Main Purpose of Job

These are professional contractual positions responsible for providing on-site behavior management services to students, local school system staff, and other mental health professionals to meet the behavioral health needs of students who are in crisis or have other behavioral health needs.

POSITION DUTIES

Provides technical assistance to local school system staff in the development of programs, policies, and best practices related to instruction using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis for students; creates and assists local school system staff with the development and implementation of functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans; conducts behavior analysis services and behavior management plans for students, including special education students; develops professional development presentations and resources on appropriate behavior intervention techniques; completes assessments and develops plans that conform to IDEA and applicable Maryland regulations and statutes; creates, reviews, and/or edits reports and correspondence related to crisis response, clinical support and/or professional development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Possession of a Master's degree or 36 credit equivalent in Education, School Counseling, Special Education, Education Administration, Public Administration, Social Work or related degree.

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of related experience in coordinating or administering education programs and/or student support services.

Notes:

1) Two additional years of experience, directly related to the position option may be substituted for the required Master's Degree.

2) Possession of a Doctorate in a field related to the position option may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

3) The required field of education and experience are unique for each option and are established by the Department of Education in accordance with Section 2-104 of the Education Article of the Maryland Annotated Code. The specific education and experience qualifications for each position are on record in the Human Resource Management Branch of the Division of Business Services of the Department of Education.

4) Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Education Program classifications or Education Program specialty codes in the Education field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of experience providing substance abuse counseling.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of or eligible Board Certified Behavioral Analyst Certification and/or completion of an Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) accredited graduate program or a Verified Course Sequence.
