Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Pennsylvania Children's Behavioral Health Services (CBHS), located in Malvern, Pennsylvania, focuses its efforts on intensive services for at-risk children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences. Each year, more than 800 children and adolescents, ages six through 18, receive specialized care in the environment best suited to the challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to return to their home communities and become productive and positive forces within their neighborhoods.

Devereux's Approved Private Schools offer high quality, innovative special education programs that work in tandem with families and school districts to ensure that students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they will need to succeed. Children and young adults may come to Devereux as a day student, or as a part of residential treatment.

This is a 12-month position specializing in evidence-based practices, assessments, and interventions; lesson planning and instructional delivery for students with disabilities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: PDE special education certification required. Bachelor's required, Master's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Successful teachingexperience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges, experience in unit and lesson planning, experience in writing and implementing legally defensible IEPs, experiencing in administration of assessments and using data informed decision making.

Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate's understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to administer CPR. Ability to administer first aid. Ability to properly restrainadolescent/adult clients. Ability to create and maintain a therapeutic milieu. Regularly requires walking, standing, stooping,bending, and pushing/pulling (1/2 to 3/4 of the workday). Seldom requires sitting. May require lifting up to 50 lbs. (1/4 - 1/2 ofthe workday). Requires repetitive wrist/hand movement (3/4 to 4/4 of the workday).Range of hearing and vision sufficient tooperate standard office machines and communicate with co-workers and stakeholders in person and via telephone.Free ofdependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other chemical substances or controlled substances. Oftendrives a Devereux vehicle or van. Regularly works inside in areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated (1/2 to 3/4 of worktime). Some fluctuation in temperature.
