ELIZABETH HIGH SCHOOL HALF-TIME SCHOOL NURSE

SALARY $22,500 - $26,000 PER YEAR

POSITION SUMMARY

Supports the educational process by striving to assure the wellness of the students. Provides preventive health services to facilitate the student's optimal physical, mental, emotional, and social growth and development. Identifies problems and disabilities and provides such services as health education, Special Education health assessments, referrals, staff education for student health, safety and health promotion.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assess students' health to identify and address health-related obstacles to learningDevelop and implement Individualized Health Plans and 504 Plans to reduce impact of chronic and episodic health conditions upon academic achievementAdminister medications as neededProvide leadership and support in response to public health crises, including the global COVID-19 pandemic.Coordination of screening of students' vision and hearingProvide medical care that allows medically-challenged students to attend school (i.e. trachea care, catheterization, G-tube feedings and wound care)Prevent contagious illness and injuries through surveillance and implementation of appropriate precautionary measuresMaintain state mandated immunization records and other health assessment dataAssist families to locate health resources in their communityEducate individuals and groups about health issues in order to raise wise health consumersAttend IEP meetings for students with significant health concerns as necessaryConduct training and supervision of school personnel performing health procedures such as first aid and medication administrationServe as a health consultant to school personnel in health promotion/educationServe as liaison between parent, school, and community in health matters as requestedMaintenance of statistical data on health rooms and screening activities on siteOversee the ordering of health and first aid supplies for buildings including health rooms, labs, shops, kitchen, and physical education areasResponsible for district compliance with Colorado State guidelines for health care in schoolsEngages in research and evaluation of school health services to act as a change agent for school health programs and school nursing practicesProvides consultation in the formation of health policies, goals and objectives for the school districtPerform other related duties as assigned or requested
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
Bachelor's Degree
Registered Nurse License (current in Colorado)
Requires a National School Nurse Certification (NCSN) if you do not have a BSN degree.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
One year of experience within a school district preferred

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION
CPR certified
