We are currently looking for an SPED-ARD Facilitator to join our Houston - Southwest campus. If the following opportunity sounds like the right fit for you, please apply.

Primary Purpose:

Coordinate the ARD process on the assigned campuses, including scheduling and conducting

ARD meetings. Work cooperatively with administrators and instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate programs for students with disabilities. Responsible for maintaining all special education files and ensures compliance with all IDEA-B regulations and procedures on campus.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate required
  • Special education certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of special education, human development, and learning theories
  • Knowledge of the Special Education, ARD, and IEP process
  • Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions
  • Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
  • Competent in working with Microsoft office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and special education student management system

Experience:
  • Three years teaching experience in special education required

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD)
  • Coordinate and complete all ARD paperwork (initial, transfer, annual, amendment, and manifestation determination ARD's).
  • Serve as resource to the campus school staff in assessing causes of failure and developing intervention.
  • Support campus staff understanding of the implementation of students' individual education program.
  • Serve as case manager and coordinate with assessment specialist to ensure evaluations are completed timely.
  • Support Child Find process, verify eligibility and programming of Special Education students new to the district, and request special education records from previous district.
  • Collaborate with campus transition coordinator to ensure that students' transition goals and objectives are aligned and measurable.
  • Assist campus staff in coordinating and administering State Assessment.
  • Maintain eligibility folders and update data to ensure that Special Education students are coded in PEIMS for federal and state funding purposes.
  • Stay abreast of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  • Collaborate with campus principal(s) and district support staff to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Responsible for implementation of Section 504 program at assigned campuses.

Consultation
  • Provide staff development training for school personnel in identification and understanding of students with disabilities.
  • Assist with writing behavior intervention plans and serve as resource to school staff for implementation.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals concerning the educational needs of students.
  • Provide staff development training to school staff in identification and understanding of students with disabilities at assigned schools.

Program Management
  • Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents.
  • Collaborate with campus principal and school staff to collect required special education documents and records.
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.
  • Address and correct discrepancies in the eligibility folder after monitoring audits.

Communication
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective expressive and written communication skills to present information accurately and clear.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Tolerate moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting 20 lbs. occasionally. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
