  • Saint Zachary School is seeking an enthusiastic, encouraging, dynamic Physical Education teacher for the 2021-2022 school year.

    This position can stand alone as a part-time role or it can be paired with another part-time position to create full-time hours.

    P.E. Teacher Position Summary

    The P.E. teacher at Saint Zachary will be responsible for teaching a wide age range of students (PreK through 8th) and needs to be able to shift their communication and teaching style accordingly throughout the day.

    P.E. classes are taught on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If there is another part-time position that does not conflict with this schedule that the teacher also wants to take they can split their time between the two positions to create full-time hours.

    Teaching physical education in our catholic schools is both rewarding and rigorous. A successful candidate will be energetic, communicative, patient, and dedicated to the continued growth of their students. A P.E. teacher should be able to motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness, good hygienic habits, and good social and emotional development. A P.E. teacher should be able to help each student achieve fitness with their own ability.. Teachers should have the passion to help their students develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination through individual and team activities and sports. Successful P.E. teachers will have knowledge and skill in physical fitness, health education, individual, dual, and team sports. Our P.E. teachers should challenge our students with compassion and understand each students' talents and limits.

    Qualifications
    · Minimum of a bachelor's degree

    Preferred Qualifications
    · 1 to 3 years teaching experience
    · Experience integrating technology into the classroom
    · Valid state teaching licensure (we accept out-of-state teaching licenses)

    General Responsibilities
    · Teach and act in accordance with the mission of the Catholic faith.
    · Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues and principal
    · Participate in professional development programs required by the Archdiocese of Chicago and/or the local school and parish
    · Perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal, including but not limited to providing remote instruction for students
    · Attend required faculty and staff meetings
    · Cooperate with the principal and staff members in school related meetings, activities and projects
    · Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records
    · Maintain a safe, orderly and secure learning environment
    · Participate in the annual performance review
    · Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students and general school matters

    Working Conditions

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently move, stand, and lift up to 10 pounds. As well as be able to walk up and down steps several times each day and physically respond quickly in an emergency.
