JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Coordinator-Educational Diagnostician
REPORTS TO: Director SPED-Accountability & Assessment
WAGE: Exempt


PAY GRADE: AI 3

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Coordinator-Educational Diagnostician is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the for Diagnosticians and Licensed Specialists in School Psychology programs in the provision of the assessment process, the ARD process, as well as the coordination of counseling and/or psychological services. The Coordinator, acting within the guidelines established by federal, state and local laws and regulations and the State Board of Examiners will report directly to the Executive Director of Special Education and the and Director for SPED Accountability and Assessment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
  • Master's Degree in School Psychology from an accredited university
  • Educational Diagnostician certification or LSSP
  • Three years' job related experience

Preferred:
  • Supervision experience

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Knowledgeable of federal, state, local laws and regulations
  • Knowledgeable of assessment and programming of students with disabilities and emotional disturbances.
  • Knowledgeable of learning, interventions and behavior requirements of students with disabilities.
  • Knowledgeable of behavioral disorders including Autism
  • Good communication skills both spoken and written
  • Knowledge of RTI Process
  • Knowledge of Assessment tools used for Autism evaluations

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Coordination of the LSSP staff.
  • Ensures compliances with federal, state and local requirements in all areas of the assessment of students with potential ED/AU diagnosis
  • Develop and conduct staff development activities for Diagnosticians and LSSPs
  • Assists in the determination, continuous evaluation, and revision of the special education program.
  • Investigates and subsequently provides training in the evaluation processes, including theoretical and statistical concepts of standardized tests, informal test procedures, observation techniques and competency level systems.
  • Participates in professional and community activities which will improve services in the areas of appraisal, diagnosis, prevention and/or intervention methods related to learning and behavior problems
  • Performs other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, reaching/repetitive hand motions, and the ability to work with frequent interruptions. Mental demands: Ability to maintain emotional control under stress; ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data, ability to be effective in both oral and written communication. Travel within the district as required.
