SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS AND PARAEDUCATORS

The Essex Westford School District (EWSD), serving Essex Junction, Essex Town, and Westford is looking for substitute teachers and paraeducators to work on an "as needed" basis in all subject areas and grade levels. Full day and partial day shifts may be available Monday through Friday.

We are seeking candidates who are effectively able to manage student behaviors, follow the lesson plans of the teacher, are willing/able to be flexibly assigned/reassigned based on school needs, and are reliable in their attendance at work. Experience working with young adults or children and a love of, and dedication to, the success of all students is a must!

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience preferred
  
• Ability to handle stress and resolve conflicts
  
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of student incidences and records
  
• Willingness and availability to work on short notice to cover unanticipated absences strongly desired (e.g.: the morning of an absence)
  
• Prior experience with Restorative Practices, PBIS, Responsive Classroom, Developmental Design or other social emotional learning programs preferred.
  
• Industry certification (e.g. licensed Cosmetologists, licensed Dental Assistants, Registered Nurses) desirable for some positions.

Short-term substitute teaching and paraeducator pay rate is $126.00/day.

Job Requirements EWSD conducts thorough screenings of all applicants being recommended for hire, which may include contacting references not listed on your SchoolSpring application. Selected individuals will also be subject to criminal records background checks, child and adult abuse registry checks, and a VT Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) check (if driving students). These trainings are provided at no cost to the applicant and are expected to take a half-day to complete. Substitutes hired will be compensated $63 (the standard half-day rate of substitute teaching) after completion of this mandatory training.
