ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• The Athletic Trainer provides medical "Athletic Training Services" to student athletes under the direction of Atlanta
Public Schools Athletic Department, in concordance with Team Physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain all National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and Georgia Athletic Trainers Association (GATA)
guidelines for Certified Athletic Trainers, as well as abiding by Atlanta Public Schools rules and regulations.
• This is a part time position classified under "Seasonal" athletic employees.
• They may work in the fall, winter and/or spring athletic seasons.
• This position will receive a one-time supplement payment at the end of each sports season.
• Successfully complete the Atlanta Public Schools Human Resources hiring process and background check.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain appropriate general treatment orders to be reviewed annually and approved by the Athletic Director and
Team Physician.
• Provide athletic training services for all home athletic contests and away varsity football games.
• Scheduling conflicts must be resolved in advance by the Athletic Department.
• Act as a liaison between family physicians, team physicians, Emergency Room personnel, the school district,
coaches, athletes and parents.
• Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, referrals, and physician diagnosis and treatment plan.
• Contribute data and expertise toward the development and growth of the Atlanta Public School Sports Medicine
Program.
• Schedule and participate in the pre-participation sports physicals.
• Provide the coaches and athletic director with a list of athletes medically eligible to compete under state and
national rules and regulations.
• Assist coaches and athletic directors in implementation and recording of ImPACT baseline concussion tests and post
concussive injury examination and testing.
• Secure, stock, maintain a clean organized Athletic Training Room.
• Supervise and use the modalities and treatment options available at each individual school, prior to and after
practice and games.
• Also develop rules and protocols for behavior and treatment in the training room.
• Provide guidance and education for coaches and athletes regarding critical care protocols for heat illness,
concussion management, MRSA strep prevention and wound care.
• Attend all in-service activities offered through Atlanta Medical Center.
• Attend professional conferences and study current developments in the athletic training profession.
• Secure, stock, maintain a clean organized Athletic Training Room.
• Supervise and use the modalities and treatment options available at each individual school, prior to and after
practice and games.
• Also develop rules and protocols for behavior and treatment in the training room.
• Provide guidance and education for coaches and athletes regarding critical care protocols for heat illness,
concussion management, MRSA strep prevention and wound care.

Requirements :
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree in Sports Medicine preferred
CERTIFICATION:
Must hold a current and up to date NATA certification
Valid driver's license
Compensation :
Stipend: $15, 000
