POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Director (ED) of Data and Information is primarily responsible for leading the Research and Evaluation, Testing and Assessment, and the School-Based Applications teams. This position will also serve as an advisor to senior leadership in strategic data use, local, state, and federal accountability policy, assessment procedures and policy, student information policies, systems and applications, research, and evaluation. In addition, the ED will work closely with the Executive Director of Information Technology and the Assistant Superintendent of Innovation, Improvement, & Redesign to ensure seamless, collaborative processes are established and executed to support effective school and district continuous improvement and innovation efforts, data governance, efficient data capture and reporting, and meaningful assessment practices are implemented.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Manages direct reports and identifies areas for process improvement and collaboration amongst the three distinct areas.
  • Ensures the organization's strategic goals are communicated to teams and that departmental goals support district goals, and that strategies and policies are evident in their work.
  • Manages a cross-functional team responsible for analyzing, verifying, interpreting, and producing data to support the district and schools in decision making.
  • Leads directors and staff in all the areas for whom the Executive Director is responsible.
  • Aligns work with the strategic vision of the Superintendent and the Chief Performance Officer.
  • Leads the teams responsible for local, state, and federal reporting of data.
  • Validates and analyzes strategic data for accuracy and completeness and refines to a format for specific individual responses or summary reports.
  • Identifies and explains patterns and relationships related to changes, trends, or circumstances not readily evident from the data.
  • Leads and supports technical staff to gather requirements from business owners for translation into efficient assessment, data, and technology solutions.
  • Participates in professional development as required.
  • Works closely with, collaborates, and supports the assessment, research, and school-based applications teams.
  • Writes reports and makes presentations related to critical district evaluation data.
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with school and community leaders, staff from other departments, parents, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative


Requirements :

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Experience effectively leading a team of technically skilled employees in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of data systems
  • Knowledge of research and evaluation methodologies
  • Knowledge of testing and assessment practices, both summative and formative
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal accountability procedures and policies
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to represent the organization when interacting with the state department of education
  • Ability to represent the organization on external boards and with external partners
  • Skills in leading each Director to ensure strategic alignment and efficient execution of tasks
  • Extensive knowledge of statistical concepts and procedures, dashboards, scorecards, charts, data analysis, process monitoring, and data reports
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of database concepts, data warehousing concepts, and data systems common to the educational setting (student information systems, student assessment data, teacher evaluation data, etc.)
  • Excellent skills in data displays and interpretation and report writing and presentations
  • Excellent organization and time management skills; prioritize work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent activities

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree in education or related field preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
  • Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation, or ability to attend off-site meetings

WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • 3 years of successful experience in research, assessment, and data systems, or similar technical environments.
  • 3 years of successful experience in K-12 school district, regional education service agency, or state education agency strongly preferred
  • Experience with statistical concepts and procedures, dashboards, scorecards, charts, data analysis, process monitoring, and data reports


Compensation :

GRADE: 140

WORK DAYS: ANNUAL

SALARY: $110, 102 - $150, 981

FLSA Status : EXEMPT
