PURPOSE OF JOB: To increase parent participation in school activities and encourage positive communication between home and school thus enhancing student achievement and attendance as defined by NCLB mandates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.

Provide educational information to school, students, parents and community on family support services provided through the District to improve student attendance, academic achievement and school performance.

Involve parents in the planning and implementation of the school's parental involvement plan and school wide Title I Plan.

Assist in the planning of monthly workshops and information for parents on the district's “Monthly Themes” and Title I Mandates.

Interpret policies, guidelines, and practices regarding the operation of Title I Program and No Child Left Behind legislation (NCLB).

Prepare extended learning packets for parents to utilize at home with their children.

Assist school and Parent Resource Center Coordinator in planning, scheduling, and implementation of special department initiatives in order to meet objectives and schedules.

Assist school in developing a sustained, systematicplan for parent participation with on-going communication between school and home.

Coordinate and integrate parent involvement strategies with other programs such as Head Start, Reading First, and Parents as Teachers.

Assist in inputting SFA data for students.

Coordinate with the school's SAC to set up parent volunteer programs.

Attend and participate in scheduled professional development.

Complete, review, and edit required program reports and documents.

Provide monthly status reports.

Attend monthly Title I meetings and other meetings as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse populations.

Demonstrated knowledge of and experience coordinate and/or developing and delivering referral services for community based education, social or health programs.

Experience preparing detailed written and oral reports.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

60 college hours with a minimum 2.5 grade point average

Missouri submstitute teaching certificate

Bilingual skills

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of work year: 7 hours per day; 5 days/week; 205 days
