General Statement of Duties:

This work involves the performance of more difficult fiscal clerical work. Problems are varied and often unusual, requiring considerable judgment be exercised in solving them. Accuracy is a key in this class because frequently no direct check is made on work performed. Employees in this class perform work that affects all employees and departments and typically work independently with only the most unusual problems being referred to a supervisor.

This is a 260-days (12 months), 8 hours per day position in the Payroll Department. Minimum starting salary is $43,035.64 (NOTE: Salary for the 2021/2022 school year will be prorated due to employment start date after July 1, 2021.)

Essential Duties:
  • Performs Verification of Income/Employment
  • Inputs direct deposit and employee tax forms
  • Assist with FMLA
  • Assist with STD/LTD
  • Inputs sick leave transfers and catastrophic leave
  • Inputs mileage payments
  • Handles office phone calls and emails
  • Researching and requesting manual checks
  • Inputs prep for pay for the retirement group
  • Responds to subpoena request
  • Handles office filing
  • Performs a wide variety of clerical or account tracking task
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:
Considerable knowledge of methods used in keeping fiscal accounts and records; knowledge of payroll and procedures; knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel; good knowledge of office terminology, procedures, routines and equipment; some knowledge of accounting principles and practices; ability to perform complex mathematical calculations quickly and accurately; ability to keep and to make reports from financial records; ability to effectively supervise accounting/clerical employees; ability to accurately proofread and verify financial documents; ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions; ability to research a variety of data; ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees and the public; accuracy.

Graduation from high school, preferably with bookkeeping and business coursework, and four (4) years of clerical/payroll work experience related to the position's duties (and preferably some supervisory experience); OR , any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
