JOB DESCRIPTION:

The K-2 Integrated Knowledge Curriculum Coach is responsible for assisting the Director of English Language Arts and Social Studies Supervisor in planning for and training all instructional coaches, classroom teachers, and school leaders in the implementation of the Integrated Knowledge Curriculum units in Grades K-2. This position is an exciting opportunity for a teacher leader who:

REPORTS TO: Director of English language Arts and Supervisor of Social Studies

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists schools in implementing effective designed instruction using research based instructional strategies deep rooted in Disciplinary Literacy.
  • Assists administrators in supporting, training, and coaching teachers and staff in the implementation of the Integrated Knowledge Curriculum at the K-2 level specifically units of study deep rooted in the Language Arts and Social Studies.
  • Designs and delivers training to administrators/teachers in providing feedback to students to improve instructional delivery within the K-2 Integrated Knowledge Block.
  • Oversees the facilitation of writing process for the Integrated Knowledge K-2 curriculum with teachers, administrators and key stakeholders.
  • Identifies resources and supports teachers with differentiation to meet all students' needs in humanities that is rich in social sciences and literature.
  • Provides individual assistance to schools experiencing significant struggles in the areas of analysis of authentic texts and writing across the content areas.
  • Works in collaboration with the Director of English Language Arts and Supervisor of Social Studies and other areas to maximize teacher effectiveness as it relates to the K-2 Integrated Knowledge instructional programming.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator associated with the SCSD K-2 Integrated Knowledge Curriculum Initiative.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Experience with Elementary ELA, Social Studies, and Science preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum of five years successful classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Prior experience with standards-based instruction
  • Experience working within a large, complex organization preferred


Certification/Licensure:
  • Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in the area of K-5 Elementary Education, Special Education, or ENL


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with standards-based instruction and assessment practices
  • Experience with curriculum development
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners across multiple disciplines and levels
  • Demonstrated knowledge in differentiation and meeting the needs of varied learners
  • Ability to plan and implement short and long-range goals and objectives
  • Ability to work with collaborative teams
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with administrators, staff, and community members
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Prior demonstration of exemplary attendance is expected of any candidate for hire.
  • Training and/or experience with Culturally Relevant Education (preferred)
