QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Iowa Teaching Certification (Music endorsement)
  2. Knowledge and experience in instrumental music area
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.


REPORTS TO: Building Principal(s) and Performance Music Coordinator

SUPERVISES: n/a

JOB GOALS: Engage students in music in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan, conduct and evaluate instruction based on the district instrumental music curricular scope and sequence which lead to fulfillment of department and district goals
  2. Conduct assessments of student progress, both informal and formal
  3. Report student progress to both students and parents
  4. Work with fellow staff within the building and with the instrumental music department to plan and implement the curricular program, and district requirements
  5. Direct Curricular ensembles
  6. Plan and direct concerts
  7. Participate in regular professional development activities as required by the district
  8. Maintain clear communication with all staff at building and district level
  9. Communicate with parents regarding student regular progress and special occasions as necessary
  10. Administrative duties associated with Instrumental Director position
  1. Other duties as assigned


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. 186/184 Contract Days. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.


EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District's policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
