Essential Functions and Objectives:

Emily Griffith Technical College is looking for qualified applicants to teach part-time Adult Education (Adult Basic Education and/or High School Equivalency) classes to adults. We are interested in hiring a teaching professional who believes in the success of all students while maintaining high educational standards. The position is for Evening and Saturday classes.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

-Provide scaffolded and supportive instruction for Adult Education classes to students.

- Teach classes at main campus downtown, online, and/or at offsite locations.

-Use student-centered methodologies and approaches in your classes (appropriate to student and program goals).

-Employ multiple teaching styles to match program and student learning styles and goals.

-Teach classes in accordance with course lesson plans, syllabi, and outcomes.

-Create and utilize formative and summative assessments to measure student progress to identified outcomes.

-Assist with developing and revising unit lesson plans and daily lesson plans.

-Inform students of and uphold school policies (conduct, registration, books, etc.).

-Track, record and submit student attendance, grades, and progress, and complete required reports.

-Attend and participate in professional staff development activities

-Attend activities, meetings, and committees as relevant/necessary to role.

- Track and report on relevant grant-related data.

-Perform other tasks as necessary.

-Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

-Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills, attention to detail is necessary.

-Ability to think critically and proactively address challenges.

-Knowledge and skill in instructional techniques and strategies in order to thoroughly assist with the informational needs of individuals.

-Ability to collaborate with instructors from CTE programs.

-Ability to work under pressure while maintaining standards of quality and service.

-Ability to work independently and effectively problem solve with limited resources.

-Ability to use data to identify areas for program improvement and take initiative to make improvements.

-Working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education Requirements:

Required

- B.A. in Education or related field.

-Two years of formal instructional experience (use of performance standards, curriculum, lesson plans, assessments) helping Adult learners develop academic and/or employment readiness skills.

Preferred

- Experience delivering instruction aligned with College and Career Readiness Standards for Adults.

-Experience developing and/or delivering contextualized instruction and/or integrated education and training.

-Familiarity with the state approved HSE exams (GED, TASC, and HiSET) and their content.

-Masters in Adult Education or related field.

-Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA).
