POSITION SUMMARY
: Under the direction of the Director of Career & Technical Education (CTE) and College and Career Readiness (CCR), this position will carry out assignments in support of certificated staff in the areas of new teacher support; curriculum development, review, evaluation, and resource selection; assist with CTE professional development, providing standards-based instructional design assistance; and support CTE advisory committee work. The facilitator will also support the implementation of a comprehensive K-12 college and career readiness system that includes measurable outcomes toward increasing academic rigor, academic preparedness and college and career knowledge for all scholars. Additionally, the facilitator will work in partnership with school counselors and administrative teams to monitor critical graduation assurance data and support district wide AVID and advisory implementation, K-12 counselors, college/career specialists and CTE staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive.   • Assists the director of CTE/CCR in achieving the goals of the school district's strategic plan and carrying out policies established by the superintendent and board of directors.
  • In alignment to the strategic plan, facilitates the development of curriculum guides for CTE courses.
  • Assists with the development of curriculum that aligns with the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) CTE/CCR program standards, employability standards, leadership skills standards, and state learning standards
  • Leads, with teacher/counselor input and voice, the development of assessments aligned to state standards and depth of knowledge
  • Establishes a climate in the areas of responsibility conducive to appropriate conduct, performance, attitude, job satisfaction, and service orientation.
  • Regularly communicates to teachers and counselors in support of the strategic plan and department initiatives in verbal and written forms in order to gather feedback and ensure teacher voice and input for all initiatives
  • Supports teacher/counselor committees' collaboration with external industry advisory boards and implement recommendations regarding curriculum, instructional practices, use of equipment, and/or technology, and career awareness and student experiences where possible
  • Supports the CTE/CCR director with CTE/CCR-required reporting including state curriculum frameworks and teacher certification reviews
  • Provides focused professional development work with individual teachers and/or counselors on a regular basis using student data and student work with a focus on current, relevant standards-based instruction.
  • Fosters teacher/counselor growth through individualized, focused, one-on-one support, primarily to new, Plan 2 teachers.
  • Provides leadership in program development in assigned curricular areas, to include design of district curriculum, identification and alignment of instructional materials, design of professional development, and long and short-range planning for ongoing, evidence-based improvement
  • Leads collaborative groups through the evaluation of selected program areas, courses of study, and the development of curriculum guides which will provide for a progression of curriculum concepts and instructional skills through all grade levels of instruction
  • Works collaboratively with the other Teaching for Learning (TFL) directors and coordinators to develop and plan professional development supporting effective instructional practice and instructional materials implementation that supports student achievement
  • Manages procedures to assure compliance with policy and procedures related to curriculum implementation
  • Coordinates special projects asnecessary
  • Works cooperatively with central office leadership and other central office departments
  • Spends time at schools in direct and personal consultation with principals, instructional coaches, counselors, and teachers to provide the full range of needs in assigned areas of responsibility
  • Follows a planned professional growth program; participates actively in local, state, and national professional associations/organizations; and studies local, state, and national guidelines for effective services in assigned areas of responsibility
  • Serves on regional teams related to CTE/CCR initiatives
  • Develops and implements long- and short-term plans and activities
  • Assures accurate and timely dissemination ofinformation
  • Keeps informed of trends in assigned areas of responsibility, as well as other pertinent areas, such as federal, state and local laws, and district regulations, policies, and procedures

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Washington state career & technical education teaching certificate
Three (3) years successful teaching experience in career & technical education and/or other job-related occupations

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Strong background working with a diverse population

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Washington CTE administration internship program completion
Demonstrated successful experience in high school teaching in urban public education
Demonstrated successful experience in an ethnically diverse public school district
Completion of courses in curriculum and instruction, curricular design, and professional development design and delivery

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance
Valid Washington state driver's license
Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis
