ADULT EDUCATION ESL PROGRAM FACILITATOR
10 Month Position
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Adult Education ESL Program Facilitator will report to the Director of Adult Education To assist and evaluate new and returning students to the Adult Education Program. To provide students with relevant information regarding Adult Education Services. To maintain organized student records. Hold primary responsibility for Connecticut Competency System (CCS) coordination, quality data collection and use. Have a comprehensive understanding of CCS; be able to train new staff in the implementation of the CCS System; and, provide ongoing technical assistance to district teachers. Bring together the curriculum, assessment, instruction and accountability system, and help teachers monitor learning. Able to connect teaching and learning, and be much more than a "tester"
SKILLS: Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with multi-ethnic groups a must. Knowledge of the Adult Education intake process. Knowledge of the various assessments required by the CSDE. Willingness to work toward continuous program improvement. Comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the CCS through the completion of the entire six-hour CCS Training session (which introduces the Appraisals and the Pre- and Post-Assessments), and the CCS Program Facilitator Professional Development Certification session. Knowledge of the various Adult Education programs, requirements and assessments. Bilingual preferred. Implementing E-tests. Ability to analyze data.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensures all Adult Education students are assessed as required by the State Department of Education. Provides information to students regarding the different Adult Education programs. Maintains organized student records. Represents program and provide input at facilitator meetings. Share communications between director and other staff members. Obtain answers to staff CCS inquiries. Ensure security for testing materials and provide inventory information to the Bureau of Health/Nutrition, Family Services and Adult Education. Explain and interpret Literacy, Adult, and Community Education System (LACES) as needed. Review/coordinate/complete forms as needed for quality data collection. Evaluate test results and assist in placements. Encourage use of class profiles from pre-tests to provide feedback to students and teachers, and to connect curriculum, assessment, and instruction. Review Bureau data reports with District coordinator for accuracy, and program implications. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education
REQUIREMENTS: Required CT Certification: 111 TESOL, Grades PK-12; MA Degree preferred Utilizing the Literacy, Adult, and Community Education System (LACES). Working with adult learners. Working with teachers and community-based organizations. Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) implementation Ability to communicate orally and in writing with staff members, students, parents and community Demonstrated public relations skills Demonstrated managerial skills, to include delegation, effective decision-making, interpersonal relationship skills and problem-solving skills Ability to collaborate with the entire school-community in order to effect school improvement Proficient in computer technology
Salary will be in accordance with the BEA contract salary schedule.
