    The filling of this position is based upon continued funding in the Board of Education budget.

    Note: Teachers dually certified in TESOL, Bilingual Education or ESL, with experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English, will be given preference for all Stamford Public School positions.

    General Statement:

    This is a Teacher Leadership position focused on improving student achievement, supporting staff development, and assisting in the implementation of the Strategic School Improvement Plan. The ideal candidate will be an instructional leader with aspirations toward school administration, having experience in data analysis, coaching teachers, providing intervention support, and developing student intervention plans.

    The Teacher Leader for Student Support reports directly to the Principal or administrative designee.

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Performs duties in the areas of student instruction and supervision.
    • Provides small group instruction to support Tier 1, 2 and 3 interventions.
    • Demonstrates strong content knowledge and pedagogy in reading, writing, and mathematics.
    • Effectively communicates with students, faculty and families.
    • Effectively uses data and assessments to implement differentiated instructional plans.
    • Collaborates with staff and families to develop and progress monitor effective intervention and 504 plans for students.
    • Oversees the SRBI process and provides feedback to teachers in initial Tier 1 intervention(s).
    • When appropriate, develops additional Tier 2 and 3 interventions in collaboration with the teachers and families.
    • Assists in planning and facilitating professional development.
    • Responds to teacher requests for observation of students, strategies for students, and modeling.
    • Encourages and maintains the cooperative involvement and support of parents and the community.
    • Supports students in their development of social emotional skills.
    • Supports matters related to discipline and student attendance.
    • Performs collateral duties as assigned by administrators.
    • Manages building procedures for district testing.
    • Assists in the preparation of building-based grants.
    • Completes other tasks assigned by the building administrator to support the general operations of the school.

    Knowledge and Skills:
    • Knowledge of national, state and local curriculum standards and frameworks
    • Knowledge of SRBI programs and processes
    • Experience with student data analysis, research-based instructional strategies, and best practices
    • Knowledge of differentiated instructional practices
    • Demonstrated ability to coach and support teachers
    • Ability to work collaboratively with school administration and staff
    • Demonstrated leadership qualities and potential
    • Superior communication skills (oral and written) with students, staff members and parents
    • Evidence of organizational ability and successful completion of projects
    • Proficiency in online learning applications (e.g. Google Classroom, Screen Castify, What's App)
    • Knowledge of and/or demonstrate the ability to learn and implement Operating Systems (i.e. Windows); Office suites (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Docs); Presentation Software (e.g PowerPoint, Keynote); Spreadsheets (i.e. Excel, Google Spreadsheets); Communication and Collaboration tools (i.e. Skype); Accounting Software (i.e. QuickBooks); Student Information Systems (i.e. Naviance, Power School); or any other technology deemed relevant for this position.

    Qualifications:
    • CT CSDE Teaching Certification
    • CT CSDE Intermediate Administration or Supervision Certification (092) (Preferred)
    • CT CSDE certification endorsed for (Preferred):
      • Special Teacher of Reading, 1–8 (063)
      • Reading Consultant, K–8 (096)
      • Reading and Language Arts Consultant (097)
      • Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts, 1–12 (102)
      • Comprehensive Special Education, K–12 (165)
    • A minimum of 5 years teaching experience
