  • Utilize assessment and evaluation procedures for therapeutic intervention for therapeutic intervention for disabled students to determine student eligibility for therapy services.
  • Complete assessment report within mandated time frames.
  • Communicate results of evaluation and specific recommendations of occupational therapy services to the parent, educational staff, and students when appropriate, other professional, and agencies concerned with the student with mandated signed consent from responsible party of student.
  • Plan and develop therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant to be integrated in the students’

  • Establish a system of documentation that is professional, efficient, and accountable and that conforms to state and district policy
  • Attend staffing and other school meetings when appropriate
  • Conduct periodic reassessment of the therapy objectives as indicated by student needs determined to be educationally relevant
  • Monitor and collaborate by teaching and supervising other professionals and paraprofessionals who are involved with the implementation of occupational therapy intervention procedures
  • Provide consultation to the educational system regarding student needs, professional needs, and system needs in order for the system to achieve its goals and objectives
  • Document and maintain student progress reports in accordance with district and program guidelines
  • Participate in developing collaborative programs to meet student’s needs including conferences; parent
  • meetings; Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings, and teacher training
  • Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level, interests, and needs of the student
  • Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of occupational therapy services
  • Communicatetheneedsoftheoccupationaltherapyprogramtotheappropriatesupervisingschool administrator
  • Maintain and be accountable for the therapy budget, inventory, and equipment
  • Facilitate in-service education and professional development for related service/occupational therapy staff
  • Participate in training educational school staff in use of assistive technology such as adaptive equipment and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Valid Texas licensees as an Occupational therapist granted by the Executive Council of Occupational Therapy Examiners
  • Knowledge of assessment procedures, therapeutic activities, and equipment used in pediatric Occupational Therapy, school based practice
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Successful completion of formal pediatric affiliation or alternate pediatric experience
