    Note: Teachers dually certified in TESOL, Bilingual Education or ESL, with experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English, will be given preference for all Stamford Public School positions.

    Job Description - SRBI Support Teacher

    General Statement

    The SRBI Support Teacher supports staff by coordinating SRBI Interventions and collecting intervention data in the assigned school. The SRBI Support Teacher is the point person between families of students receiving SRBI and the school. There will be one SRBI Support Teacher for each elementary school. They report to the building principal. The SRBI Support Teacher collaborates with the Director of School Improvement and Professional Development, who ensures fidelity of SRBI Invention across the district.

    Major Responsibilities
    • Respond to teacher requests for observation of students, strategies for students, and modeling, if requested by the teacher.
    • Observe SRBI students and provide feedback to teachers in initial tier one intervention(s).
    • When appropriate, develop additional tier two and three interventions in collaboration with the teachers.
    • Work with building principal to provide support and resources for the classroom teachers in an effort to improve the educational performance of SRBI student(s).
    • Review data with SRBI team, including classroom teachers and parents, to assess progress and collaborate in determining and implementing next steps.
    • Coordinate and document SRBI team's intervention plans. This will include, but is not limited to, classroom strategies and all services relating to ELL, behavioral health, CCSS, and Stamford Curriculum in tier two or tier three interventions.
    • Provide short-term (6-8 week) Tier II or Tier III interventions. The SRBI Support Teacher may be required to work with a variety of students over the school year, keeping in mind that the primary role of the SRBI Support Teacher is to work with the regular classroom teachers. It is expected that this direct service time will not impact the ability of the teacher to fulfill their primary role of working with teachers, tracking and analyzing data, and the other responsibilities of this job.
    • Develop data while monitoring student responses to interventions; monitor fidelity of interventions.
    • Collect, record, and analyze student progress data from staff members delivering SRBI interventions.
    • Complete monthly data reports on SRBI student progress for district, team and parents.
    • Attend regularly scheduled professional development (twice monthly during the school day). The PD will include: skills for working and collaborating with the classroom teacher; opportunities for collegial interactions with other SRBI support teachers; SRBI strategies; implementation of interventions; analysis of data from state and district-wide assessments; or other topics pertinent to the role of the SRBI Support Teacher.
    • Participate in PLCs and/or grade level meetings, at the request of the teachers.
    Qualifications
    • Current Connecticut Educator Certificate for the appropriate grade levels
    • Successful teaching experience (minimum five years)
    • Experience as a full-time elementary classroom teacher, at least two years within the last six years, Preferred.
    • Familiarity with national, state and local curriculum standards and frameworks
    • Knowledge of SRBI programs
    • Experience with using research-based instructional strategies and best practices
    • Experience with using differentiated instruction in the classroom
    • Demonstrated ability to leader and support teachers
    • Demonstrated capacity to work well with others
    • Superior communication skills (oral and written)
    • Evidence of organizational ability and successful completion of projects
    • Knowledge of student data analysis
    • Computer proficiency
    • Knowledge of and/or demonstrate the ability to learn and implement Operating Systems (i.e. Windows); Office suites (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Docs); Presentation Software (i.e. PowerPoint, Keynote); Spreadsheets (i.e. Excel, Google Spreadsheets); Communication and Collaboration tools (i.e. Skype); Accounting Software (i.e. QuickBooks); Student Information Systems (i.e. Naviance, Power School); or any other technology deemed relevant for this position.
