QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of all phases of construction industry; trends in design and construction; state, county, and local ordinances pertaining to site acquisition and school building programs.
Must possess the skill to work cooperatively with school personnel, developers, real estate consultants, contractors, architects, and other contacted in the course of carrying out responsibilities; assist in the development and maintaining of complex administrative plans and procedures; supervise the work of others; plan, recommend, and implement all phases of job responsibilities; communicate effectively.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To serve as District liaison with Office of the State Architect, Office of Local Assistance (State Allocations Board), and other appropriate state, county, and local agencies; to assist in developing of master planning facilities, financing, remodeling, and construction; preparation of applications and monitoring of all aspects of the State School Building Aid Program; all phases of site acquisition; coordinate the planning and development of new schools; coordinate, with appropriate District personnel, the educational specifications for all new facilities; planning the reconstruction of existing facilities; responsibility for the District's interim facilities program including portable facility acquisition; implementing of Board policies with respect to the architect selection process; provide timely information on architectural trends; coordination of the construction program, the general administration of the construction contracts, the general direction and supervision of District's construction testing services with the director and project architect; initiation and collection of developer fees as authorized by the Board of Trustees; preparing budget projections for the facilities planning program; reviewing and interpreting all local planning documents and environmental documents which potentially affect the District, i.e. general plans, zoning, development of plans, E.I.R.'s, etc.; communication regarding facilities planning program to the Board of Trustees, appropriate governmental agencies, and other interested groups; rezoning, variances, easements, encroachments, permits, appraisals, rentals, sales, and leases of land and/or facilities; other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: B.S. degree in architecture, engineering, or related discipline desirable. Two to five years experience in the following: construction, construction planning, construction estimating, material procurement, the processes of local construction, and planning regulatory agencies.
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
DUTIES OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Director of Facilities Planning, is responsible for the coordination and administration of the facilities planning program and the equipping of the facilities as designated.
STARTING SALARY: $8,063 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily hours to be 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
