Director of Information Technology and Data Protection Officer
Establishes, evaluates and maintains information and communication systems for the Medina Central School District including but not limited to; VOIP, Security Camera Systems, Google Apps for Education, Vm-Ware, ExaGrid, etc.
Develops, implements, manages and assess the district's information collection, recording, reporting and communication needs, including LANS/WANS;
Makes judgments and recommendations regarding the future identification, evaluation and acquisition of educational computer and telecommunications hardware and software products and the utilization of all subcontractors to implement any future information processing or communications solutions;
Coordinates the installation of final on-line system versions, to integrate systems, conversion of systems, and/or the creation of, or revision to existing systems or LANS/WANS;
Acts as a liaison with technical computer personnel and other district/BOCES staff to resolve technical issues pertaining to equipment, supplies, or software;
Establishes and operates the school district help desk;
Develops and produces internal reports for the use by the district as needed;
Prepares the departmental budget with regard to systems, staff and equipment;
Oversees the development of the District Technology Plan, in consultation with other district administrators;
Confers with the Assistant Superintendent on the development, implementation and review of departmental policies and procedures;
Act as the District Data Protection Officer and oversee the implementation of Education Law 2d requirements with various vendors and BOCES, in consultation with legal counsel;
Has a strong understanding of cyber security and cyber security related policies and procedures including but not limited to; MFA, encryption, DRP, and network segmentation;
Oversees Smart Schools Bond Act planning and purchasing for the district;
Oversees technology related capital improvement projects.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet one of the following requirements on or before the date of the written test:
A.) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master's Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field and three (3) years of paraprofessional or professional level work experience in a technical or advisory capacity which involved the development and/or implementation of a computer system of which one(1) year must have involved the supervision of subordinates; or:
B.) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field and five (5) years of paraprofessional or professional level work experience in a technical or advisory capacity which involved the development and/or implementation of a computer system of which one(1) year must have involved the supervision of subordinates; or:
C.) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), and (B);
D.) NYSED School District Administrator or School District Leader certification.
Notes:
  1. * Supervision - Responsible direction and control of subordinate employees. This involves the assignment of work, approval of work, training, evaluation and discipline of employees. The supervisory aspects must be an integral part of the job, not incidental or occasional.
  2. Your degree and/or college credit must have been awarded by a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the New York State Education Department as following acceptable educational practices. A grade of "D" or better is necessary for a course to be credited as successfully completed. If your degree and/or college credit was awarded by an educational institution outside of the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.
