Pittsburgh Public Schools employs over 4,000 individuals in various capacities to support the academic achievement and strength of character of the students we serve.

Under the supervision of the Chief Technology Officer the Director of Data Warehousing and Information Technology (IT) Operations leads the IT team responsible for data warehouse management.

This position leads and supports the design, development, and maintenance of various projects associated with the district's data warehouse - including regional data relationships and integrations. Additionally, this role manages the IT Operations teams responsible for project management, departmental funding management and relationships with external departments.

Salary :
Support Administrator Level 3, Step 1 Starting Salary $96, 943.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Year: 12 Months

Qualifications :
Candidates must be enthusiastic about the fundamental goal of advancing student achievement in an urban public school district. Candidates must be comfortable working on a team committed to better meeting the needs of our student population

In addition, we are seeking candidates with:
-Bachelors degree or 5-8 years of related experience required

-Degree in Computer Science, project management or information sciences degree preferred.

- Have accumulated a shareable portfolio of accomplished data and analytics work across multiple business verticals.

- Proven analytical and problem solving skills for assessment of complex production support issues and ability to recommend/implement quick and effective solutions.

- Mastery of common database management languages - particularly SQL and MySQL.

- Mastery of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

- Mastery of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

- Mastery in writing complex SQL code, functions, stored procedures and ability to perform data validation and analysis.

- Deep exposure in additional programming language experience a plus.

- Mastery of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing principles including staging source data, dimensional data models (star schemas), etc.

- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.

- Deep exposure to performance tuning/analysis/optimization of reports and SQL.

- Experience testing and validating data sets against business requirements.

- SharePoint and/or web development experience preferred.

- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and also collaboratively with the team.

- Strong planning and communication skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines given proactive reflections on the team's work and influencing senior leadership based on necessities and priorities.

- The ideal candidate has a track record of managing large scale data and reporting projects, is versed in development and team timeline tracking, and has a computer science/development background who can lead a team of talented data coordinators, database administrators and report designers/architects.

Essential Job Functions :
1. Manages day-to-day operations and deliverables of an internal team.

2. Represents the Information Technology as a core team lead in cross-functional department work.

3. Is accountable for all data and system integrations within the district's core portfolio of services that includes but is not limited to all student information and performance data, employee data management, student and employee services data and all state and federal accountability reporting information.

4. Serves as the primary business owner for the relationship between IT and DREA - the Data, Research, Evaluation and Assessment.

5. Documents all team activity by adhering to strict project management and resource allocation guidelines.

6. Manages the internal and external data request process, inclusive of non-disclosures, confidentiality agreements and complies with all state and federal data accounting standards.

7. Follows enterprise level best practices and processes.

8. Champions the users' overall experience with the full suite of the Data and Reporting Team's deliverables.

9. Communicate clearly and productively with non-IT leaders throughout the district and region in regards to multiple BI tools, data warehouse schema, project management tools and methodologies.

10. Coordinates activities between work streams and identifies changes in scope / priority.

11. Develops innovative solutions to data and reporting problems through application of personal experience and methods and tools.

12. Demonstrates accountability and contributions to the successful realization of District goals.

13. Communicate effectively and confidently at all levels, over the phone, face-to-face, and electronically.

14. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
