Job Description
FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to assists the Audiologist during the hearing screening/audiological evaluation of very young and/or difficult-to-test children and maintains the audiology clinic schedule. Position assists in the maintenance of the audiology department's equipment inventory, checks and troubleshoots amplification and assistive listening technology both in clinic and at schools.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serves as test assistant during hearing screenings and audiological evaluations by establishing a rapport with child, preparing student for assessment (i.e. placement of headphones/insert earplugs), training student to testing task, recognizing and selecting appropriate conditioning tools, and redirecting or reinstructing students during testing.
• Maintains testing suite, including sanitizing equipment used following testing sessions.
• Assists the Audiologist with equipment distribution and collection at the start and finish of each academic year and with checking of equipment once returned.
• Maintain inventory of Audiology Department supplies and equipment, send faulty equipment for repair and communicate with equipment vendors; schedule annual calibration of testing equipment.
• Monitor the function of amplification/assistive listening technology, troubleshoot and perform simple repairs on faulty equipment, assist with preparation and distribution of replacement technology.
• Assist the Audiologist in training of teachers and other professionals on function, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audiology equipment.
• Assists the Audiologist in maintaining students' records.
• Provide administrative support to Audiology Department including maintenance of Audiology page on WSFCS website.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to troubleshoot and determine solutions to resolve issue.
• Ability to use sound judgement for independent decision making.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Google Docs.
• Knowledge of inventory processes.
• Knowledge of methods to successful interact with pre-school/early elementary children.
• Knowledge and fluency of Spanish extremely helpful.
Job Qualification
Pay Grade 61 | Full-Time | 10.5 Months | Minimum Monthly Salary $2,445
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum: High School Diploma/GED and two years related work experience or equivalent combination.
• Desirable: Associates Degree or 60 college credit hours in Education, Human Services or Business Administration and one-year related work experience
