    Full-Time Position Qualifications and Skills
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science;
    • Strong experience with network security (certifications a plus);
    • Strong experience in using HPE, Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, and Fortinet systems (certifications a plus);
    • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot large-scale LANs, WANs and WLANs;
    • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot Windows, Linux, and virtualized server infrastructures
    • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot VoIP phone system
    • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot SANs
    • Knowledge of the principles of project management and the ability to develop, execute, and monitor project plans;
    • Expert language and communication skills, both oral and written;
    • Ability to exercise professional judgment and attitude in dealing with colleagues, other staff members;
    • Ability to perform calmly and accurately, and maintain a professional demeanor in a stressful, rapid paced, multi-task oriented environment

    Reports to: Director of Technology

    Salary Range: A highly competitive salary and fringe benefit package is offered.

    Job Responsibilities
    • Assist the Director of Technology in implementing the district's technology vision
    • Oversee all district IT infrastructure and coordinate with district Operations Manager and Manager of Information Systems
    • Assist in budgeting, purchasing, grant writing, and bid preparation for networking and other related equipment
    • Train technical staff; oversee work of Jr. Network Engineer
    • Serve on all district committees as needed as a technical advisor
    • Administer and maintain interoperability amongst district data systems
    • Liaise with Town of Westport tech department and heads up joint projects
    • Configure, maintain, monitor, inventory, and document district WAN, LANs, and WLANs
    • Support and maintain all technical aspects of district 1:1 computing initiative
    • Configure, maintain, monitor, inventory, and document district telephone system; including phone moves, adds, and changes; voicemail, and E911
    • Configure, maintain, and monitor VPN access
    • Configure, maintain, and monitor building-related systems, such as lighting, building automation, security, and environmental monitoring
    • Configure, maintain, and monitor digital video distribution system
    • Configure, maintain, and inventory server hardware and software, including Active Directory, virtual machines, server clustering, storage area networks, and battery backups
    • Configure and manage district wide system backups and data retention
    • Monitor network performance and optimize network configuration with respect to fault-tolerance, network capabilities, and bandwidth requirements
    • Monitor and maintain network and system security by defining access lists and privileges, control structures, and resources
    • Monitor and maintain intrusion prevention and web filtering policies;
    • Implement security improvements by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
    • Manage and document address allocation and network protocols, such as DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, OSPF, BGP, and PIM
    • Create innovative solutions and implement emerging technologies
