Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience equal to a bachelor's degree in law enforcement, or a related field, plus four years of progressively more responsible work experience in safety and security. Two years of supervisory experience preferred. Can demonstrate knowledge of local, county, and state rules and regulations requiring an alcohol-, drug-, weapons- and tobacco-free environment and knowledge regarding student safety and conduct; ability to enforce those regulations; ability to relate to, communicate with, and supervise staff in order to help establish and maintain an appropriate and safe school environment; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; sufficient strength, mobility, and agility to patrol school hallways and grounds, to deter inappropriate behavior, and apprehend students; and ability to successfully complete compulsory certification training approved by the Virginia Center for School Safety within sixty days of hire and renews certification annually. Applicants must be at least 21 years old at time of appointment.
