    DIRECTOR OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES

    RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Oversees interscholastic athletics for the Bridgeport School District.
  • Provides leadership for the school-based athletic programs.
  • Serves as a conduit between the athletic program and the community, including public relations and the promotion of the District's interscholastic program.
  • When necessary, assumes responsibility or assists with the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events.
  • Assists in facilitating scheduling of necessary personnel as required to host athletic events.
  • Maintains ongoing communications with all Building Administrators.
  • Ensures that proper student records are kept and maintained.
  • Promotes good will and public relations among parents, Coaches and Building Administrators.
  • Working in conjunction with appropriate Department Heads and Building Administrators, oversees all After-School, weekend and summer extra-curricular programs.
  • Assists in facilitating scheduling of necessary personnel as required to host programs.
  • When necessary, assumes responsibility or assists with the organization and scheduling of all programs.
  • Act as liason between Bridgeport Public Schools and outside program providers.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned by the Superintendent or Superintendent's Designee.

  • REQUIREMENTS :
  • Connecticut certification as an intermediate supervisor (092).
  • Successful supervisory experience.
  • Ability to effectively implement and manage budgets and personnel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teachers, administrators, parents, community groups and local youth athletic organizations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology for communication and delivery of instruction.
  • Evidence of diplomacy, flexibility, creativity and perseverance.
