Director, Marketing, Elementary ELA

Amplify is looking for a strategic, growth-focused, and results-oriented Director, Elementary ELA Marketing to drive product marketing strategy for Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA), our rapidly growing core elementary curriculum for PreK-5.

The director will report to the Executive Director, Elementary ELA Marketing with a dotted line to the Executive Director, Literacy Marketing Strategy. This person will work closely with colleagues on the marketing team as well as cross-functionally with the Product, Sales, and Partner Success teams.

We are searching for a confident and adept leader that possesses the ability to deeply understand and drive business strategy. The ideal candidate for this role has a track record of translating strategy into measurable marketing plans that result in real business outcomes - someone that approaches their work both strategically (big picture) and tactically (details).

Responsibilities of the Director, Marketing, Elementary ELA:

Marketing Strategy and Execution:
  • Lead strategy and execution for all Amplify CKLA marketing, including product positioning; product marketing; and demand generation across a range of channels.
Product Positioning and Development:
  • Lead marketing strategy for product launches including but not limited to digital enhancements, Spanish Language Arts, and new editions.
  • Create positioning and messaging for new products and features working closely with Product Managers and the General Manager, K-8 ELA.
  • Develop and maintain a suite of collateral and sales tools that communicates Amplify CKLA's differentiators and benefits to key partners at the classroom, school, and district levels.
  • Advise on positioning for sales training, competitive analysis, and product launches.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and GM to inform the product roadmap.
Voice of the Buyer and Customer:
  • Own the development of buyer-centric collateral and reviewer tools that create a positive experience for prospective buyers, applying deep expertise of K-12 curriculum purchasing, buyers' needs, and sales cycles.
  • Conduct formal and informal market research to distill our buyers' and customers' deepest challenges and needs.
  • Serve as an internal advocate for our buyers' and customers' interests, informing the product strategy, sales strategy, and full-funnel marketing campaigns.
Adoptions:
  • Collaborate closely with Field Marketing leaders to develop and execute on comprehensive marketing strategies for state-level adoptions, including tactics such as state-specific positioning and messaging; sampling and reviewer solutions for state review, committees, and caravans; customized collateral; state-specific product launches; and more.
  • Keep abreast of adoption needs and state-specific product roadmaps 1-5 years in advance.
  • Drive the planning and research for upcoming adoption needs with Product Marketing leaders, Sales leaders, and the GM.
Sampling:
  • Lead and execute on the sampling and reviewer strategy for Amplify CKLA for full program reviews, committee presentations, and digital reviews.
  • Partner with Operations and Vendor Management teams to deliver effective print sampling solutions, including stadium boxes and sample bags.
  • Maintain and update Bill of Materials (BOMs) for all sampling solutions; liaise with the Operations and Vendor Management teams on replenishment and demand planning; ensure all active samples are up to date, in stock, and meet the needs of the Sales team.
Demand Generation:
  • Supervise the campaign strategy and planning for integrated campaigns across various digital channels, including paid media, email marketing, organic and paid social media, and SEM.
  • Drive content marketing strategy for full funnel campaigns by building assets that move buyers through awareness, consideration, and adoption of Amplify CKLA (i.e. virtual events, emails, landing pages, microsites, ebooks, webinars, podcast episodes, and social media campaigns).
People Management and Development:
  • Oversee performance management and career development for the Associate Manager, Elementary ELA Marketing.

Basic Qualifications of the Director, MarketingElementary ELA:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of product marketing experience in education publishing or ed-tech
  • Experience working on state-level curriculum adoptions
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve valuable results
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience resolving complex challenges
  • Strong writing and communication skills
