QUALIFICATIONS :

  1. Minimum BA degree
  2. Endorsement for world language area
  3. Experience teaching in Junior High or High School Preferred
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

SUPERVISES : n/a

JOB GOALS : To provide activities in the classroom in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Teach courses in world language utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Directors and appropriate instructional objectives as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
  2. Develop lesson plans and appropriate aids utilizing effective teaching techniques to stimulate and maximize learning.
  3. Establish clear objectives for each lesson and communicate objectives to students.
  4. Plan effectively and purposefully, utilizing long-range plans which are compatible with building and district goals
  5. Diagnose the needs and levels of performance for each student and appraise student work and progress.
  6. Implement an effective assessment system.
  7. Define classroom expectations and uphold them.
  8. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior necessary in order to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
  9. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with staff, parents, students and administrators.
  10. Work cooperatively with students, parents, staff and administration to alleviate concerns and problems.
  11. Supply frequent and timely feedback to students, parents and counselors regarding student progress.
  12. Maintain professional competencies through in-service education activities provided by the school district and in self-selected professional growth activities.
  13. Assist in the selection and requisition of books, instructional aids and instructional supplies according to the policies of the school and the district.
  14. Maintain required inventory records.
  15. Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
  16. Provide for student needs and cooperate with other professional staff in assessing and helping solve student health, attitude and learning problems.
  17. Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
  18. Fulfill conditions of employment as outlined in the negotiated agreement.
  19. Keep current on the integration of technology in your foreign language classes.
  20. Other duties as assigned


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
186/184 Contract Days. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District's policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
