NATURE OF POSITION:
Grant-funded under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Works with students with various academic levels.
Supervise students in a variety of school related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community. Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
Teach high school level Culinary Arts based on current industry standards and state curriculum with the ability to teach both general cooking/food preparation and Servsafe Certification courses to students. Includes assessment and review processes. Plan, develop, write, and implement lesson plans in keeping with school district and state education requirements, keeping records of student achievement and tracking their abilities. Work in collaboration with staff and other teachers. Comply with and enforce school rules and school board policies and procedures. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as appropriate. Perform other school duties and assignments as appointed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with appropriate endorsement.
START DATE: 2021 - 2022 School Year
SALARY / STIPEND: Consistent with the 2021-2022 DPS Teacher Salary Scale, depending on experience and advanced degrees. In addition, the Danville School Board pays the employee cost in full, for state-mandated life insurance; and in part for state retirement and for health insurance. Other benefits include sick leave and personal leave.
