Position: The school psychologist is an advocate for students through identification of student strengths, weaknesses and psychological difficulties. The psychologist must have an understanding of typical adolescent development as well as the varying environmental, social and personal factors that can interfere with that development. The psychologist will apply the understanding of the student's profile to program planning and consult with staff regarding student needs.

Assignment: Full-time, August 19 to December 16, 2021
Supervisor: Director of Special Education

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree.
  • Valid Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License with School Psychologist endorsement.
  • Experience in a high school setting preferred.

  • Responsibilities:
  • As a member of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) team, consults and collaborates with parents, educators and other professionals to design and implement interventions to address students' academic, behavioral, and/or social concerns.
  • Serves as liaison with families, educational professionals, and community agencies to improve services and outcomes for students.
  • Participates in the Case Study Evaluation process, administering and interpreting evaluation results.
  • Relates assessment information to interventions and strategies to promote student progress.
  • Presents in-service and training opportunities to educational personnel, parents and community members.
  • Participates in continuing professional development to improve and enhance professional knowledge and skills.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge about and follows legal requirements and ethical codes of the profession.
  • Provides expertise in the areas of research methodology and design, program development and program evaluation.
  • Creates evaluation approaches that measure student and program outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
