Qualifications:

A valid New York State Certification in School Psychology. The ability to effectively convey the specialized needs of students within educational settings verbally and in writing. The belief in educating and preparing all students to succeed in a changing world.
Responsibilities:

• Administer and interpret diagnostic evaluations for cognitive ability and academic achievement.
  
  
• Interpret adaptive, and social-emotional/behavior rating scales.

• Report evaluation data and observations for students who have been referred and/or classified to the committee on special education.

• Consult with parents, teachers and staff about educational interventions and/or management strategies that can be utilized at home and at school to assist the child in attaining academic progression.

• Participation on a building level Student Support Team (SST) offering guidance within a framework of a multi-tiered system of support.
  
  
• Serve as CSE/CPSE Chairperson. (This responsibility may involve scheduling the meetings with the teachers, specialists and parents, facilitating the communication at CSE/CPSE meetings, completing the mandated procedures and filing the final reports.)
  
  
• Provide direct individual and group counseling services.
  
  
• Collaborate/consult with individual teachers regarding learning or behavioral concerns about students.

Other responsibilities related to the position as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
