Lake Forest School District 67 is seeking a part-time (0.4) Speech-Language Pathologist for Deer Path Middle School.

Description: The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) supports the District's mission to inspire and empower all students to maximize their growth as learners and develop a balanced sense of self, steadfast resiliency, and deep respect for others. The SLP serves the communication needs of students across all ages and ability levels through assessment and intervention. The SLP also provides environmental supports and services to students, teachers, teams, families, and other professionals to promote the development of effective instruction and to facilitate student educational access and communication.

Essential Functions:
  • Consult and collaborate with parents, educators and other professionals to design and implement instructional interventions to address students' communication needs.Participate in communication skills' assessment, administering a variety of assessments to determine whether students have speech and language disabilities.Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to complete evaluations.Participate in the development and implementation of progress monitoring systems and the analysis of student outcomes to inform instruction on an ongoing basis.Provide direct service to students who qualify for special education services under categories of communication disabilities to develop the communication skills needed for social and educational progress.Provide early interventions through multi-tiered systems of support.Provide direct and consultative services aligned to students' IEP needs including co-teaching and co-planning with classroom teachers, modeling of communication strategies, as well as data collection and interpretation.Model a variety of evidence-based and developmentally appropriate strategies to support the communication development of all students.Develop and maintain the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and paperwork according to state regulations as the case manager for students who only receive speech services.Conduct Initial, Reevaluation, and Annual reviews with parents and team members.Utilize assistive and/or instructional technology to assist students in developing communication skills and accessing learning. In addition, operates and maintains a variety of therapeutic equipment and trains others in use of the equipment as necessaryImplement school-wide behavior management systems (i.e. MTSS for social, emotional and behavioral needs and CHAMPS).Be knowledgeable about and follow legal requirements and ethical codes of the profession of speech and language pathology, and maintain accurate records as required by the state and district.Provide regular communication and feedback on each child's progress for parents and teachers.Work collaboratively with private and community based practitioners who may be serving an individual child according to district guidelines and state transition law.Attend scheduled meetings including professional development, IEP meetings, and regularly scheduled department and team meetings.Serve as members of problem solving teams as needed utilizing their expertise in language and communication.Assist students in developing speech and communication pragmatics in social situations.Participate in continuing professional development to improve and enhance knowledge and skills.Demonstrate an awareness of educational issues and knowledge of current research.

Qualifications:
  • A Master's Degree with an SLP endorsement.A current State of Illinois Type 73 or Type 10 certificate.Experience with students across age and ability levels.
