    Under the general supervision of the Principal and guidance of the Special Education Administrator, to assist in the implementation and administration of the school's programs and services in areas of special education, in conformance with district policies and state objectives, as well as applicable law. Position is full time, 215 days per school year.

    To serve in the capacity of the Special Education Administrator in her absence.

    Essential Functions:
    • Assists in devloping and adminstering the school's special education programs consistent with school district goals and objectives, as well as applicable law.
    • Assists in the assignment and provision of special services and programs as requested.
    • Assists in the supervision of the referral process, chairing referral meetings or collaborating with administrators and teaching staff as needed.
    • Assists in the assignment of students into appropriate special education programming.
    • Schedules, coaches, plans professional development, and evaluates paraprofessionals.
    • Coordinates and attends meetings with district staff and parents, serves on committes, and conducts professional development as needed to fulfill responsibilities.
    • Acts as LEA in special education team meetings, and the development of IEP's and placement for students with disabilities.
    • Maintains knowledge of current State and Federal Special Education laws and regulations.

    Work in standard office and school building environments.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledgable of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles and behavioral management methods.
    • Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision.
    • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding special education, student, and staff, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, IDEA, and FERPA.
    • Effective verbal and written skills.
    • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
    • Ability to develop and implement projects.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
    • Abilty to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

    Qualification Profile:
    • NH State Certification as Special Education Administrator
    • Teaching certification in special education
    • Motor vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation
    • Bachelor's and Master Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration or othe related educational discipline.
    Experience:
    • Successful special education teaching experience, preferably in more than one grade level.
    • Successful administrative experience in special education preferred.Application Procedure
