Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Associate Director of Health and Compliance is a leadership team member on the Legal and Accountability Team. The Associate Director is responsible for the implementation and progress monitoring of a variety of school-health related programs and activities. The Associate Director will fully own the relationship between KIPP DC and Children's School Services (CSS), as well as the contract with Capital City Nursing. This position will also involve shared management responsibilities of the KIPP DC Compliance Team. This position is an exempt position and reports to the Senior Director of Accountability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Leadership on the Compliance team
Collaborate with the Senior Director of Compliance, other compliance team leaders, and other legal team leaders on larger compliance initiatives, including revising policies and protocols that impact the compliance team workstream
Represent compliance work stream and needs to other legal team leaders
Share organizational and compliance updates with compliance managers so that they can incorporate it into their work, for example, OSSE policy updates that will be important for school leaders or families to understand
Lead by example to create and reinforce positive and productive team culture

No Shots No Schools - 40%
Track overall immunization compliance at the network level,
Work with Communications team on outreach and awareness campaign to families
Work with Compliance Managers to identify students who are out of compliance at the school level and help create plans to increase immunization rates
Schedule mobile clinics at campuses and manage sign-up process with parents
Research and identify other supports and partnerships to increase immunization compliance at schools
When students must be excluded from school due to missing immunizations, work with school leaders and compliance managers on communications and execution

General Health Compliance - 20%
Ensuring all schools are compliant with a variety of health-related regulations, including:
Staff certified to administer medicine
EpiPen administration
Defibrillator program
Planning and execute annual Health assessment at all schools in the spring
Collaborate with schools to complete OSSE's annual School Health Profile, and raise any gaps in programming to the academic team.

Children's School Services School Health Program - 10%
Manage relationship with Childrens' School Services/School Health Suite Program, including:
Monitoring nurse staffing at all campuses
Sharing calendar and facility updates with Nurse Managers
Completing Health Suite approval process at new sites
Investigating nurse complaints from school leaders and resolving with Children's staff
Continuing to focus on improvements in working relationship between KIPP DC and CSS.
Secure backup Health Suite coverage as needed
Participate in annual budgeting process for nurse-related expenses

Team Management - 30%
Take on top-to-bottom management responsibilities of three compliance team members, including:
Deliver both positive and critical feedback on job performance
Conduct annual performance review process
Support individual growth and development
Support and guide compliance manager relationships with school leaders as needed

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least 5-7 years of experience required, with three of those years involving work with schools and principals
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Some teaching experience preferred
  • Strong cultural competency skills, including ability to communicate and work effectively and cultivate relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Passion for education reform and the belief that every child can succeed; experience in K12 education strongly preferred
  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC's mission and to advancing its anti-racist ambition through their work with staff, students, alumni, and families
  • Documented ability to manage complex projects with competing timelines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills, and extraordinary attention to detail
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills
  • Flexibility, tenacity, ability to produce high-quality work, resourcefulness, and willingness to work well with a team
  • Knowledge of local and federal school health requirements a plus
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with PowerSchool is a plus
