Educational Assistant- Lifeskills

Purpose: Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives, and to free certified professional employees from non-professional duties such as proctoring study halls to enable them to make a contribution to other aspects of the educational program, such as curriculum development. Assists in implementing developmental, academic and life skills instructional programs to students in settings where individualized instructional programs and teaching techniques are used to address moderate to severe learning and physical disabilities or special social/behavioral, cultural, and language needs of the students under the supervision of licensed staff. May work with small groups or in one-to-one settings.

Hours: 7 hours per day (Part-time)
Schedule: 7:45 AM - 3:15 PM
Contract Status: Regular/Probationary
FLSA Status: Non-exempt - Classified
Start Date: August 30, 2021
Calendar: 180 Work Days
Rate: $18.26 per hour with benefits (Note: this is the 2020-21 rate, we are currently in negotiations for the 2021-22 rate, TBA)
Retirement Contribution: Corvallis School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. Upon eligibility, the district contributes 6% of an employee's salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

Minimum Qualifications
  • An associate's (or higher) degree, two years post secondary study (72 quarter or 48 semester credits), or a passing score on a district approved assessment.Ability to independently organize and carry out work assignments, follow student schedules or individualized education plans, and direct the work of students and others associated with the program. Following adequate training, ability to provide motor instruction in a swimming pool.Prior experience working with special needs children desirable.
