Seeking a Registered Dietitian (RD) for a unique, high-impact, part-time position with WJCC schools. RD will work with Child Nutrition Services to oversee planning and development of menus, including the nutrition analysis of menu items, and the Farm to School Program. RD works collaboratively with the School Health Initiative Program (SHIP) to provide nutrition education and professional development across the division with a focus on the development of lifelong healthy eating habits. Position is 10 month, 19-hour per week district-wide position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Registered Dietitian (American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics)
• Assists in establishment and maintenance of standards for food preparation, service, and sanitation
• Promotes nutrition education as an integral part of the food service programs
• Assists with the development of objectives, policies, and procedures for food service programs
• Works with the Supervisor of Child Nutrition Services to plan, organize, and direct the menu planning process utilizing the Nutrikids software and meeting nutritional USDA program requirements.
• Supports school Child Nutrition Services staff, school health services staff and parents with modified diet concerns, to include diabetic, gluten free, and food allergies
• Coordinates and conduct training and in-services for Child Nutrition Services
• Oversees Farm to School Program including acquisition and distribution, marketing, and nutrition education.
• Promotes nutrition education as an integral part of the food service program through marketing and promotion activities, training of Child Nutrition Services staff, and providing guidance on healthy meals.
• Acts as a liaison between the school district and other organizations that promote nutrition education.
• Supports other SHIP components that include nutrition education as part of their programming including cooking clubs, family events, community events, social media, and guest speaking and teaching engagements.
• Initiates and coordinate value added programs and opportunities such as community partnerships, regional and state presentations and assists with grant writing.
• Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Registered Dietitian (American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics).
Must be Serv-Safe Certified, or willing to obtain certification within three (3) months of employment.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local health regulations, USDA requirements and the proper handling of food in a school cafeteria.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of and ability to use personal computer applications to include email, spreadsheets, graphics, and word processing.
Valid driver's license. Must be flexible and willing to travel between schools and division administrative offices.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
The ideal candidate has a passion for supporting a "Farm to Fork" perspective and knowledge of the National School Lunch Program and USDA standards, is organized, high energy, and has the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Grant writing experience preferred.
