Join National Heritage Academies (NHA) as a Leaves and Accomodations Consultant. The position will report to the Benefits and Compensation Manager and will work from the Service Center, located in Grand Rapids. The ideal candidate for this position will have earned a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources and possess strong technical aptitude. The ability to provide an excellent level of customer service is also critical in this role.

Your Role

  • Provide an excellent level of customer service to employees on benefit and leaves matters
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance
  • Compile and maintain leave records and documents
  • Leverage HR technologies to manage leave administration efficiently
  • Implement plan design changes and help with change management
  • Communications to school leaders and BPs on the leaves process to ensure there are open line communications
  • Administer employee leaves and compliance
  • Respond to employees with questions regarding leave policies and processes
  • Provide direction to employees on process for requesting leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), disability leaves, personal leaves, military leaves, and workers compensation leaves.
  • Communicate leave parameters approved under FMLA to employee, supervisor and HR Business Partner, including specific details of approved leave under an approved intermittent leave
  • Work with FMLA and disability vendors to actively monitor employee leaves to ensure compliance and payment
  • Partner with managers to help manage leaves/identify trends/potential abuse
  • American Disabilities Act (ADA)/ Accommodations Case Management
  • Evaluate and research employee requests for workplace accommodation
  • Facilitate the interactive process to identify and assess options for providing reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other disability laws, ensuring consistency across the organization
  • Independently approve or deny requests based on relevant medical knowledge and other appropriate factors; clearly communicate parameters of approved accommodation to employee and manager
  • Monitor approved workplace accommodations to ensure approved accommodation is working for both employee and manager; follow interactive process to make modifications to accommodation as needed
  • Develop and conduct ADA and other leave training for managers
  • Coordinate daily leave processing and bi-weekly payroll processing
  • Serves as a contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators
  • Coordinates transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration
  • Prepares regular leave reports and data for plan vendors
  • Prepare on demand reports for internal parties
  • Provides technical support, tests system functionality and works with end users to provide system support and troubleshoot system problems
  • Minimal travel required
  • Additional duties as assigned


Requirements

  • College education, preferred
  • 3-5 Years of experience, preferred
