This role is an exciting opportunity to serve on a diverse and dynamic team committed to the audacious task of transforming public education in Providence Public Schools. Working alongside a team of dedicated, equity-driven teams of professionals, the goal is to deliver on societies' most fundamental obligation: providing all children with access to a fair, equitable and rigorous education. The time for change is now and the district is in the process of a game-changing transformation led by a newly appointed State Turnaround Superintendent, in coordination with the Rhode Island Department of Education and with the support of the larger Providence community. The Student Success Leader will play a key role in supporting the Secondary Network Leadership Team in providing an organizational system focused leadership that supports assigned schools, leaders, teacher leaders and teachers within the network.

The MTSS Culture Specialist is responsible for supporting site-based leaders by supporting them to develop systems and solutions that are sustainable and effective and that generate equitable outcomes for all schools and stakeholders with a focus on grades and attendance. The Student Success Leader is charged with developing school capacity to develop student success and monitoring systems that will support schools to get a laser-like focus on grades and attendance.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Coach and support school leaders, teachers and problem solving team members to develop and enhance existing systems and structures focused on student support by analyzing and interpreting multiple data sources (attendance, academic, behavioral, social emotional learning (SEL) etc) inform practice.Develop the capacity of schools to implement appropriate strategies and practices of assessment, evaluation, performance management, and accountability, rooted in PPSD's equity priorities, to monitor and evaluate progress toward the mission, vision, and goals.Support schools in understanding and implementing the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Framework and structures to increase student achievement and promote equitable outcomes.Support the development and implementation of tier I (culture and climate) practices and programming and implementation of school-based problem-solving teams (tier II), targeting behavior, academics, social emotional development and engagementCollaborate with student support personnel i.e. social workers, psychologists, guidance counselors, nurses, school culture coordinators (secondary), school community specialists (secondary) etc., as well as community partners to implement strategies and systems that will promote equitable outcomes and safe learning environments.Coach around the facilitation of school-based problem-solving teams (i.e. Attendance Teams, School Improvement Team, Wellness Teams, Target Teams, Student Support Teams, etc.) with a focus on data collection and progress monitoring to adjust supports and interventions as needed.Provide technical assistance, coaching and professional development to teachers and administrators in order to positively impact student outcomes on attendance, academics, social emotional learning and behaviorParticipate in school leadership teams as a thought partner with schools to build capacity and provide tiered supports and interventions through observation, feedback, collaborative planning and coaching.Collaborate with and support School Community Specialists and Culture Coordinators, at the secondary level.Support school leaders to develop and implement a strong, collaborative culture focused on student learning and the development of professional competencies which leads to quality instruction.Attend relevant meetings including professional conferences and lead/facilitate committees or workgroups related to improving student learning outcomes;Supports start of school planning and goal setting during the summer to prepare for future school yearsParticipate in position related district-wide support teamsAvailable after hours on an as needed basis to provide additional support to schools;Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provides high-quality service, supports and interventions to site-based leaders and instructional personnel;Use of data: Uses data to differentiate instructional supports and interventions.Equipment Operation: Operates personal computer, basic office equipment and equipment related to area assigned;Achievement Focus: Sets challenging goals, demonstrating persistence and overcoming obstacles to achieve goals;Equity: Exhibits a commitment to equity and creates a sense of urgency to close achievement gaps.Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive and difficult situations and information; in interpersonal problem-solving, decision-making and leadership skills; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to manage and work with a team to accomplish mission and goals. Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.

Salary Rate Range
$80,254 - $93,631

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or a related field, Masters PreferredAt least three years of experience teaching, or working within a school setting, with school administrators, teachers and a diverse population of students and families, preferably in a leadership capacityStrong knowledge of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Framework and implementation in a school settingExperience with operation and facilitation of school-based problem-solving teams (i.e. Attendance Teams, School Improvement Team, Wellness Teams, Target Teams, Student Support Teams, etc.)Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data to inform decision making, interventions, programs and supports through cycles of improvementExperience in providing technical assistance, coaching and professional development to teachers and administrators in order to positively impact student outcomes on attendance, academics, social emotional learning and behaviorAbility to work cooperatively and effectively with other school personnel, district staff, parents, and community members; demonstrate superior problem solving ability involving students, teachers, parents, administrators, and the publicExperience planning, developing and implementing programs with community partners, preferably within a school settingStrong language, analytical, reasoning, communication and technology skills; including competency in Google suite, including Google sheets, documents, classrooms, preferredMust demonstrate a deep belief in the capacity of all students to achieve at high levels, demonstrate a strong system-thinking expertise and have the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse set of leaders and teachers to improve student achievement.You must complete the new hire compliance training prior to your first day of employmentBilingual PreferredSelected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
