    Our school, Pope Francis Global Academy (PFGA) is a Pre-K to Eighth Catholic elementary school in the Portage Park neighborhood, on the northside of Chicago. We have a well-maintained and secure school campus on Irving Park Road, which is only minutes away from both the Green Line and the Kennedy Expressway.     Job Description:

    PFGA is currently looking for a full-time Junior High/Middle School Math instructor to join our school family. Although we would prefer that candidates have a strong understanding of Mathematics and Mathematics instruction, we are also open to those who are new to the field but have a willingness to learn and grow.

    Job Expectations:
    • Support a mastery-based learning environment.
    • Lead students to meet ambitious academic goals.
    • Implement long-term plans and daily lessons that are aligned to content standards.
    • Motivate learning through Math problems grounded in real-world experiences and applications.
    • Ensure that student learning is based on student needs.
    • Conduct formative and summative student assessments and provide timely feedback.
    • Provide each student with opportunities to reflect on their learning experiences.
    • Have a solid understanding of Mathematics including Algebra and some Geometry.
    • Deliver instruction with an understanding of content best practices.
    • Be able to adapt lessons and units when necessary.
    • Work with colleagues and be an active member of your assigned grade level team.
    • Build relationships with students and families.
    Qualifications:
    • Must have a bachelor's degree in Education or Mathematics. (Teaching experience is preferred, it is not required)
    • Must know how to use and be comfortable using email daily
    • Must be able to use, or open to learning how to use, technology in the classroom to aid with instruction. This includes, but is not limited to computers, tablets, smartboards.
    • Must be able to use or willing to learn how to use various apps such as iReady, Google G-Suite, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), and other content-specific programs.
    • Although being Catholic is not required for the position, the candidate who is hired must be respectful of the practices of our Catholic faith.
    • Finally, anyone hired must be respectful of all people, regardless of faith, race, ethnicity, gender, or economic status. We believe that all people have a right to human dignity and kindness.
    Working Conditions:
    • A dedicated classroom that is not shared with any other teachers.
    • Technology in the classroom includes but is not limited to a document camera, computer, Apple TV, smartboard, and projector.
    • 1 to 1 student access to technology (iPad's and/or Chromebooks) daily.
    • The use of an M1 MacBook Air throughout the school year.
    • Access to our school facilities outside of school hours and on weekends.
    • The ability to facilitate and/or participate in school activities such as clubs, sports, tutoring, or our haunted house. (Yes, our school has had a haunted house called "The Catacombs" that operated every October for the past 42 years)
