IDEA was founded in 2000 as a single school with 150 students in the Rio Grande Valley. When interest exceeded building capacity, to meet the demands, IDEA's co-founders committed to serving more students in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and beyond. About Permian Basin

 

Permian Basin is a large region encompassing the majority of West Texas. When you think of the Permian Basin, think oil country, Friday Night Lights, sunny days, and gorgeous sunsets. The two major cities that IDEA Public Schools will serve are Midland and Odessa, located about 15 miles from each other and situated almost exactly halfway between El Paso and Fort Worth.

 

Though only 17% of residents have a college degree, the community is eager to innovate, partner, and transform the education system for the next generation of scholars. IDEA Public Schools is proud to launch in Permian Basin as a high-quality education opportunity for families, with a commitment to serve over 10,000 students at scale by launching 14 schools across Midland and Odessa.  

Role Mission:  

The After School Program Enrichment Specialist willfacilitate after-schoolprogramming for priority students, focusing on academic support, enrichment opportunities, and college/career readiness. Enrichment Specialists will work with campus principals and the Site Coordinator to ensure after-school programs enhance the vision and priorities of the school.Enrichment Specialists workafter school for 2 - 4 hours, Monday - Friday. 

 

Responsibilities:  

• Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns to campus- wide initiatives while developing students' character and sense of community in the classroom 
• Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student 
• Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify. 
• Provide enrichment and recreation leadership for the after school program students. 
• Facilitate planned enrichment and/or recreational activities to group of students (average group size 12-18). 
• Assists in developing students' cognitive capacity, increasing academic skill development, and respect for learning. 
• Foster students' self-esteem and motivation through positive interaction. 
• Be directly supervised by the Site Coordinator  
• Attend scheduled meetings with Site Coordinator to coordinate program design, evaluation process, and outreach efforts. 
• Work closely with Site Coordinator to: organize schedule of enrichment and/or recreational activities; implement evaluation tools; and complete professional development 
• Abide by all IDEA campus rules and procedures

Qualifications:  

• Education:High School Diploma or GED
• Prior experience in enrichment working with school-aged kids

 

Knowledge and Skills:  

• Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior 
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills 
• Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment 
• Ability to track dataweekly and monthlyforreporting 

Compensation:  

• $14 per hour
