$134,887 (Non-Negotiable)

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Chief of Communications and Strategy, the Director of Multimedia Communications manages projects and programs that will ensure the development, planning and delivery of high-quality multimedia communications projects focused on high levels of engagement. This position is responsible for managing multiple multimedia projects including developing and maintaining the appropriate internal and external relationships for success. This includes the development of project charters, scope, milestones, timelines, implementation plans, and coordination of the project close out process in multiple formats including print, video, audio, public presentation and web-based mediums.

The Director of Multimedia Communications specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: employing communications strategies in alignment of the district vision, mission and goals within the strategic plan; managing multiple projects and community engagement special programs such as districtwide printing projects; coordinating district public events; overseeing the district website, notification system and social media platforms, and working with other departments on communication strategies and projects in service of the District's strategic plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive.   • Leads with a lens of equity and cultural competency in all district communications, community engagement and partnerships.Develops and supports various multimedia communications efforts including website and social media, and makes recommendations regarding use of current and future social media platforms.Oversees and implements training on multimedia platforms including the website, social media, and parent notification system.Develops, maintains and oversees District online content through a variety of multimedia platforms.Leads multimedia efforts in production of photography and video content highlighting the District's strategic plan efforts.Designs and coordinates strategic planning communications efforts and community relations projects working with the Executive Director and Superintendent to engage the public and encourage and facilitate their appropriate participation in school district activities.Creates, presents and produces performance updates of the district strategic plan through an extensive communication effort with best practices in student, staff and community engagement.Develops, implements, and leads long- and short-term project management plans and activities; submits forecasts, recommendations, and funding requests.Provides technical and project leadership for the district's project management framework to ensure industry best practices are adapted, adopted, and implemented.Effectively supervises and manages staff in completing assignments in timely and team-based projects.Researches information required to manage assignments including relevant policies, current practices, staffing requirements, financial resources, etc., for the purpose of developing new services, taking appropriate actions and/or responding to requests.Writes and edits a variety of pieces, including: presentations, articles, op-eds, print and online newsletters, web copy, reports, etc.Coordinates project planning activities with appropriate stakeholders, functional leads and appropriate technical teams aligning new efforts with current and planned systems; verifies accuracy of scope and estimates, and informs other teams of potential impacts to their respective areas due to project efforts.Follows a planned professional growth program, participates actively in local, state, and national professional associations/organizations; and studies local, state, and national guidelines for effective services in assigned areas of responsibility.Provides leadership for large-scale, districtwide events.Makes presentations to various educational and professional groups, district committees, other school districts, and community organizations on district initiatives and status.Establishes a climate in the areas of responsibility conducive to appropriate conduct, performance, attitude, job satisfaction, and service orientation.Confers with management or development teams to prioritize needs, resolve conflicts, develop project criteria, or choose solutions.Communicates regularly with the public, colleagues, and district staff in a positive and constructive manner.Coordinates and leads the district's printing, posting, and publications programs.Develops and provides training for other staff, student interns, and volunteers.Develops operational standards, procedures, documentation, and presentations.Manages special projects or assists other departments with project management as assigned.Assures accurate and timely dissemination of information.Facilitates the development and maintenance of effective partnerships programs to meet the needs of the district.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Keeps informed of trends in assigned areas of responsibility.Appropriately represents the District, Superintendent, and the Executive Director in meetings, presentations, and media engagements as assigned.Facilitates and assists others in District outreach programs.Maintains adequate and careful records as required by the district.Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Communications
Five (5) years of successful and increasingly responsible project management experience in a large and complex organization.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in effective communication strategies with engagement with non-English speaking populations
Proficient in web design, Microsoft and Adobe Creative Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in a related field
Accreditation in Public Relations certification (APR)
Professional certifications in the fields of Communications, Public Relations, Community Engagement, Project Management, and/or Organizational Leadership
Experience in school public relations
Experience in best practices of social media

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:

Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis
Valid Washington State Driver's License

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly stand and walk, bend neck and back, use hands for repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee will constantly be required to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer screen and keyboard. The employee may occasionally be required to squat, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation, climb stairs/ladder, lift and reach overhead, and lift/carry. The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 10 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 20 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 35 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum weight of 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is required to travel to various locations. Nights and Weekends may be required occasionally to meet job demands.

This position typically works, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 260 days per year
