Assistant Manager- Accounting Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- Minimum three years of experience in accounting, business management, or related field, preferably in a school environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in technology and financial software applications, including Microsoft Excel.
- Satisfactory criminal and child abuse clearances (Acts 34, 114, and 151).
- Ability to perform essential job duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Additional or alternatives to the above qualifications as determined to be appropriate and acceptable.
Assists with supervising accounts payable and receivable, payroll, state reporting and general business functions within the Business Office. Collaborates with various administrators of administrative detail by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists the Director of Finance with managing issues relating to Business Office functions and staff performance.
- Assists the Director of Finance with submitting all required PA Department of Education reports i.e. the quarterly cash on hand or Social Security Reimbursement.
- Reconciles district bank accounts, including payroll and child nutritional services.
- Reconciles Allentown Public Library accounts.
- Reconciles daily cash sheets against month-end reports.
- Runs the month end reports for the General Fund, Agency & Trust Funds, High School Activity Accounts, Athletic Fund, and Library.
- Runs regular and ad-hoc reports, including the month-end treasurer's reports, secretary's reports, tax comparison reports, and financial statements; prepares various fund reports for inclusion in the monthly board book.
- Maintains and updates the donated revenue accounts.
- Prepares journal entries and payroll adjustments on a monthly basis.
- Assists with the preparation of the District's annual financial report.
- Enters and reports fixed assets.
- Prepares and submits state sales tax reports and unclaimed property.
- Transfers monthly and quarterly PSERS and Social Security payments.
- Prepares account analysis and reconciliation of accounts.
- Assists with grant reporting and analysis.
- Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned or delegated by the supervisor.
