JOB TITLE : Resource Teacher, Mathematics (School-based) - Woodlawn MS

REPORTS TO : Principal

DEFINITION : The primary role of the school-based resource teacher is to provide in-house expertise, service, and support in mathematics curriculum implementation for the elementary/ middle school. Provides a variety of services to include professional development, data analysis, and planning for instruction to support the mathematics program. Performs other duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :

Provides mathematics instruction, intervention or extension, for small groups of students of various ability levels.

Utilizes evidence-based screening tools to assess individual students in order to identify specific areas of targeted need and plan responsive small group and individual mathematics instruction aligned to College and Career Standards

Works collaboratively with the school-based leadership team to analyze data in order to support the mathematics program.

Works collaboratively with teachers to co-plan, co-teach and model customized lessons based on formative assessment data.

Assists groups of students for success on BCPS and state assessments such as BCPS End of Unit, MAP, and MCAP.

Supports teacher professional growth by providing professional learning aligned with identified teacher and school goals.

Collaborates with staff from the Office of Mathematics PreK-12 to support the implementation of a cohesive mathematics program at the school.

Adapts mathematics curriculum to meet the needs of a diverse student population.

Maintains personal professional growth in elementary/ middle school mathematics instructional practices.

Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education, Training and Experience :

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field related to the assignment, plus three years of successful teaching experience in the area of mathematics, which includes experience in planning and implementing professional development. Master's degree preferred.

Licenses and Certificates :

Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Professional Certificate is required.
Mathematics Instructional Leader endorsement, preferred.
Maryland Advanced Professional certificate preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Strong background in secondary mathematics content; knowledge of effective instructional practices in secondary mathematics; Knowledge of transformational teaching and learning through the STAT initiative, learner-centered and small group instruction. Knowledge of BCPS One, Learning Management System (LMS), lesson tiles and available digital resources for students and teachers. Demonstration of strong communication and human relations skills; demonstration of effective organization and communication skills; demonstration of strong computer/technology skills in teaching. Demonstration of strong teamwork.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office environment. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities.

Eligible for membership in the Maryland State Retirement System.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $81.00 An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
  • All newly hired personnel must attend a Badges and Benefits session.
  • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
