Primary Function (Job Goal)
Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Department of Transportation Services in both the Dispatch Office and directly with the Bus Drivers. This individual will collaborate with bus drivers on safe driving practices, route adjustments, and student behavior interventions. Establish and maintain bus safety programs with the Assistant Director. Coordinate and assign drivers and equipment to regularly scheduled home-to-school and school-to-home routes, special excursions and field trips; coordinate communication between school and transportation staff; and evaluate and recommend solutions to student incidents and complaints.

Director for Transportation Services or designee

Qualifications
Physical Requirements
Generally the job requires 75% sitting, 20% walking, and 5% standing and significant finger dexterity in order to operate a two-way radio and needs Meet the physical demands of hearing, talking, sitting, stooping, bending, reaching, grabbing, pulling and squeezing, repetitive hand/arm movements, grasping and occasional lifting up to 15 lbs. Appropriate hearing to understand radio communication and appropriate vocalization to be understood over the two-way radio. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Must be able to demonstrate and perform the emergency, evacuation procedures as described and defined by the Illinois School Bus Driver Training Curriculum and endorsed by the Illinois Secretary of State, Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Board of Education. These procedures involve, but are not limited to, sitting on floor of the school bus at the rear door and scooting out the rear door to the ground, and assisting students safely off the bus.
The job is performed in a motorized vehicle in all types of weather and traffic conditions.

11 paid Holidays
Completion of mandated training through Global Compliance Network within the first 45 days of employment.
FLSA Non Exempt Status
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Educational Support Personnel.

Qualifications
- 21 years of age
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License or verification from Secretary of State stating eligibility
- Valid Illinois School Bus Permit or verification from Secretary of State stating eligibility
- Pre-employment medical examination, including drug/alcohol test and tuberculosis clearance
- Pass a Regional Office of Education Fingerprint/Background Clearance including Federal Bureau of Investigation
- Experience in school transportation department with a minimum of five years bus driving experience
