This role is an exciting opportunity to serve as a leader within a diverse and dynamic team committed tothe audacious task of transforming public education in Providence Public Schools. By any measure, and over many years, the Providence Public School District (PPSD) has failed to deliver on its most fundamental obligation: fair and equitable access to a rigorous education for all children. The time for change is now and the district is in the process of a game-changing transformation led by a newly
appointed State Turnaround Superintendent, in coordination with the Rhode Island Department of Education and with the support of the larger Providence community.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Schedules and supervises facilities team engaged in building and grounds upkeep and repair; responsible for safety and security, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation servicesDirects, supervises, and evaluates facilities staff; ensures staff receives training related to specific job tasks and responsibilitiesOverseeing all aspects associated with building maintenance, space reconfiguration and office expansionDevelops and monitors Facilities budget.Develops, implements, and supervises preventative maintenance and renovation programs for buildings, grounds, mechanical and electrical, utility, and safety and security systemsPrepares specifications for facility projects; estimates costs of equipment, materials, labor, and supplies; prepares bid specifications for projects, equipment, and contracted services; oversees site and building projects performed by outside contractorsLeading safety and security efforts to ensure we are constantly providing a safe workplace for our team membersDeveloping and managing communication channels, to ensure cohesive communications across all sitesAbility to partner closely with support teams (Finance, HR).Directs, schedules, and oversees external contractors (electricians, plumbers, excavators, roofers, painters, landscapers, etc.)Other duties as needed


Salary Rate Range
$83,464 - $97,376

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree is required.5-7 years of experience in Facilities Management, Procurement, contracts, vendor management


Qualifications

  • Multi-site facilities management required; management of educational facilities preferredExperience directly managing full range of workplace facility services through reconfiguration and expansionExceptional communication, presentation and negotiation skillsAbility to achieve goals through influencing, partnering and developing relationships with leadership and other key stakeholders across the businessStrong analytical ability and experience utilizing Excel and other MS Office tools.Capital project management experienceExperienced with understanding job specifications and drawingsThrive in a deadline driven industryYou must complete the new hire compliance training prior to your first day of employmentBilingual PreferredSelected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check. Selected candidates cannot begin work until passing their background check.
