Summary
The Director of Curriculum and Instruction is responsible for driving academic excellence through data driven instruction and innovative solutions for our students. This role leads an academic team of administrators directing curriculum mapping, Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework, instructional coaching, professional development, and ELD programming in grades K-12.


Essential Functions
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by the individual assigned to the Director of Curriculum position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required; other duties may be assigned as department needs arise.

The Director of Curriculum and Instruction generally:
• Provides direction for educational staff
• Develops and implements educational programs, ensuring that they are carried out appropriately by all staff;
• Works in collaboration with Program Principals in the implementation of the Academic and School Improvement Plan;
• Develops and implements programs to ensure data is being used to drive academic decisions and is effectively analyzed to drive instructional practices across all grade levels and content areas;
• Oversees the MTSS framework as well as ELD programming
• Designs and plans Academic Professional Development in coordination with the CAO.
• Researches and implements non-K12 curriculum resources that meet state standards;
• Works with Program Principals to ensure teaching staff utilizes the K12 curriculum, effective assessments, and targeted instruction to meet the individual needs of each student;
• Identifies and utilizes communication technologies and practices that most effectively support a predominantly virtual / remote work environment;
• Supervises Instructional Coaches, Academic Professional Development Coordinator, ELD Coordinator and MTSS Coordinators and develops effective staff members through an ongoing evaluation process and professional development;
• Helps articulate the school’s mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively in order to achieve desired results;
• Works closely with the CAO on establishing strong relationships with all school stakeholders.
• Supports CAO in effective and efficient budget management;
• Collaborates with Student Support Services teams, and Operations department, to improve systems and processes that serve the school;
• Collaborates with CAO to ensure school programs are in alignment with authorizing agency requirements;
• Creates and fosters a positive school culture by involving school staff, students, and parents.
• Works collaboratively with the education management organization, Insight PA leadership team and Insight PA Board of Trustees.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 8-10 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees; Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in Education required
• At least 5 years of experience as an educational leader
• K-12 PA Principal Certification
• All PDE required clearances for school-based pupil personnel (within one (1) year required for offer)


Minimum Required Skill Set
• Strong analytical skills are needed to track and analyze data in order to uncover trends and create strategic plans to improve results
• The ability to communicate compelling feedback that impacts instruction, motivates management and accelerates achievement
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working and teaching in an online learning environment
• PA Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction Certification


Work Environment

• This position can be performed as a home-based position, though in-office reporting may be requested when necessary.
• The noise level in the office setting is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).
• Remote workers are required to arrange Childcare for young children at home per our Remote Worker policy in the Employee Handbook.
• This position could include limited travel and could include limited overnight travel. This is estimated to be less than 10% of the cumulative 10-month school year.
