NATURE OF POSITION:
*Grant-funded under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Under the direction of the principal and supervising teacher, the instructional paraprofessional assists in the daily supervision and instruction of students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Follows the directions of the teacher and/or principal.
• Supervises students in instructional situations in the manner prescribed by the teacher and/or principal.
• Consults with the teacher concerning academic expectations for individual students.
• Becomes aware of the academic standards used in monitoring progress and implements those standards.
• Uses time efficiently in working with a group of students so that each child is helped as needed.
• Uses good judgment in interpreting a lesson and/or supporting teacher instruction in a group situation.
• Assists the teacher and/or principal whenever possible in meeting the needs of each child.
• Supervises students in the classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, playground, and at rest time in a safe, structured, and positive manner that supports the expectations of the teacher and/or principal.
• Consults with the teacher and/or principal concerning behavioral expectations for the children in different situations.
• Observes the quality and style of teacher-prepared materials so that the same standards will be maintained in materials prepared by the instructional paraprofessional.
• Correctly operates the office machines that are necessary for preparation of materials.
• Prepares materials in the most time-efficient manner.
• Uses time wisely so that materials are ready when needed.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign or delegate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to work closely and cooperatively with students, teachers, administrators, colleagues, and parents/visitors.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Instructional Paraprofessionals must meet one of the following criteria to be hired: 1) completion of at least two (2) years of study at a four-year college or university (official transcripts required); OR 2) attainment of an Associate degree in any field (official transcripts required); OR 3) passing the Educational Testing Service's (ETS) Parapro Assessment with a score of 455 or higher (official ETS score report required).

START DATE: 2021 - 2022 School Year
SALARY / STIPEND: Pay Rate: $11.78 - $18.84 per hour, depending on experience. Danville School Board pays the employee cost, in full, for state-mandated life insurance; and in part for state retirement and health insurance. Other benefits - sick leave and personal leave.
