Great Oaks Legacy Charter School is seeking a Director of Talent to join the Network Talent team.

Great Oaks Legacy Charter School is a high-performing, innovative public charter school in Newark NJ, serving students from Pre-K to 12th grade on multiple campuses across the city. Our mission is to prepare students for success in college. We provide all children with the support they need - inclusive of resources that acknowledge and address systemic inequities - to be empowered to thrive.

We have high academic and behavioral expectations for our students. Our students, for example, are encouraged to take multiple AP classes before they graduate. We bridge the educational opportunity gap by supporting rigorous academics with daily individualized tutoring within a community committed to supporting equity and diversity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teacher Recruitment and Retention:

  • Develops targeted programs and initiatives to attract and retain a talented and diverse teacher candidate pool.Oversees strategic efforts to expand the pool of qualified candidates through various channels, including the AmeriCorps program, university education programs, Teach for America, online sources, etc.Collaborates with the Chief People Officer to ensure the development of effective retention strategies, such as career pathways, long term compensation strategies, professional development opportunities, and more.Partners with leaders from various non-profits, colleges, and universities to plan and implement on-campus recruitment events and initiatives (career fairs, information sessions, panels, etc.).Partners with the Director of the Tutorial Curriculum & Teacher Gateway, as well as recruitment team, to ensure an effective internal pipeline for AmeriCorps Fellows with interest in staff roles.Strengthens regional relationships with non-profits, college and universities, talent agencies, and Teach for America to increase the awareness of the Great Oaks Legacy brandIdentifies and develops initiatives to ensure equity and diversity in the hiring and promotion process.Builds and sustains systems and processes that lead to more efficient sourcing of candidates, including Develops strategies to leverage various platforms (e.g. LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, and Handshake) to ensure an effective recruiting process.Uses data to adjust outreach strategies, support recommendations, and drive outreach decisionsCollaborate with Campus Directors and other leaders to assess short and long-term talent needs and trends.


Teacher Development:

  • Work with the Chief People Officer and Chief Academic Officers to develop a Master Teacher and Leadership Development track for experienced teachers.Supports the Chief Academic team to ensure the fidelity of the performance management cycle and teacher evaluation process.


Teacher Certification

  • Supports teachers and works collaboratively with campus directors with regard to teacher certification, including initial certification for teacher residents, support with provisional teacher requirements, including EdTPA, and summative evaluation submission, etc.Tracks and maintains teacher certification information for the district ensuring the successful progression of teachers from initial to standard certification.Collaborates with School Directors to oversee implementation of the district-wide mentoring program.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relentless work ethic.Belief that all students have what it takes to be successful.Bachelor's degree from a competitive university required; Master's degree in Education Leadership or related field preferred.At least 5 years of experience in a high performing public charter school setting preferred, including at least 3 years of teaching experience; Teacher coaching or instructional leadership experience strongly preferred.Strong understanding and/or successful track record of implementing effective teacher recruitment strategies.Demonstrated ability to lead successful development and training programs, preferred, including experience leading PD and workshops targeted toward educators.


REPORTING RELATIONSHIP & EVALUATION

The Director of Talent Recruitment is a full time, year-round (12-month) role and reports to the Chief People Officer, receiving semi-annual evaluations.
