The Art teacher will rotate between grades PreK - 8th and will implement teaching art history, drawing, painting, and the use of a variety of art materials and resources to encourage creativity and self- expression.

Position Responsibilities
• 9, 45-minute classes (could be 2 days a week, or 5 days for 2 hours each)
• Classroom management in a private classroom
• Instruct basic art concepts, techniques and an appreciation for art/art history.
• Organizes daily lesson plans for each grade level taught, and submits weekly lesson.
• Demonstrates good artistic ability and knowledge of subject area.
General Responsibilities
• Participates in curriculum and staff development programs.
• Ability and desire to adapt new and innovative lesson plans on a yearly basis.
• Establishes and maintains good classroom management.
• Adapts materials and methods to the interest, needs and abilities of groups and individual student.
• Teach and act in accordance with the mission of the Catholic faith.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues and principal
• Participate in professional development programs required by the Archdiocese of Chicago and/or the local school and parish
• Perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal, including but not limited to providing remote instruction for students
• Attend required faculty and staff meetings
• Cooperate with the principal and staff members in school related meetings, activities and projects
• Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records
• Maintain a safe, orderly and secure learning environment
• Participate in the annual performance review
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students and general school matters
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree is required
• Valid state teaching licensure
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prefer a teacher who plays an instrument
• Skills and interest in the area of art in a variety of mediums, including experience with digital content creation
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently move, stand, and lift up to 10 pounds. As well as be able to walk up and down steps several times each day and physically respond quickly in an emergency.
