Lake Forest Community High School District 115 is seeking a Health Assistant - RN.

Description: The Health Assistant - RN uses clinical knowledge and professional judgment in providing nursing health care to students and staff. The registered nurse strengthens and facilitates the educational process by modifying or removing health-related barriers and uses early detection to aide in the prevention of illness and disability.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)Valid Illinois Registered Nurse LicenseValid CPR/AED CertificationExperience working as a registered nurse - preferred

Essential Functions: Nursing Care
  • Triages and provides professional nursing care to students and staff in accordance with professional standards, school policies and procedures, and state mandatesImplements first aid measures as neededAdministers daily and PRN (as needed) medications and nursing care procedures prescribed by the student's physicianPerforms vision & hearing screenings and other health screenings as directed by supervisorParticipates in maintaining and updating cumulative health records to assure compliance with state mandates including immunizations, physical exams, medical conditions and related archival responsibilitiesCollaborates with Certified School Nurse to plan and implement school health management protocols for students with chronic health problems, including the administration of medicationsDisseminates health care plans to teachers through PowerSchool and emails CommunicationCommunicates with all stakeholders to enhance cooperative action to meet the health and safety needs of studentsMaintains medical waivers and communicates with Wellness teachers, assistant athletic director, and counselorsCollaborates with teachers, LRC case managers, deans, and counselors regarding student behavior and attendancePromotes health education and services to enhance the health and wellness of the school communityRecords state mandated health records for every student; follow up with parents as needed OrganizationDocuments patient care services in daily log and/or department recordsMonitors all student files for reported medical conditions, checking entries into PowerSchool and assuring teachers are notified four times per yearMaintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulationsPrepares and maintains all first aid kitsChecks proper functioning of medical equipment four times per yearCompiles data for statistical purposes Professional ResponsibilitiesMaintains confidentiality of school mattersDevelops and maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, and collaborating with peersStays current regarding state and national regulations for HIPPA, physicals,immunizations, and health action plansModels high standards of professionalism in all situationsMakes appropriate assessments and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporterPerforms other job related duties as assigned by direct supervisorAdheres to Board of Education policies and procedures
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and reach. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and lift. Repetition motions are required, especially for keyboarding which involves substantial movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and up to 50 pounds frequently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to inside environmental conditions and is subject to noises associated with both office and educational environments.

Compensation: $28.00 - $33.00/hour
